Wanted to dig out this thread for Worlds! I thought they skated very well in the SD! :thumbsup: The scores are not something they can influence and skating so much earlier than the other top pairs certainly can't have helped. Plus IMO the tech panel is very, very tricky. Their scores weren't bad anyway and they are still in striking of H/D and C/B. And now they'll be in the same group with their main rivals, not 2 hours earlier. Good luck in the FD!

I thought they did well. Scored as expected. I think they have a stronger FD than SD and could pass the Brits in the final standing, possibly H/D too, but we'll see. If they end up 7th, it will be a huge success, the field this year is extremely competitive.
PSt only level 2, that's not acceptable.
Yeah, they need to get more consistent on the TES front. It's already improved a lot, it needs to improve even more and they need to get more exact and foolproof there. IMO this was a tough, tough panel for them, but still. They need to not leave any doubt, so that even the most critical callers can't dock them much.

Watching NBCSN's coverage of the SD (I DVRed it while I was at work) - I greatly enjoyed their performance! Best of luck to them in the FD!
I think considering this is their second season together, they are doing great as a team so far! They seem to have a lot of genuine chemistry. They just need to continue to work on their lifts and step sequences. I am looking forward to continuing to watch this team!

Vika and Nikita skated much better here despite their lower scores, only .65 less than at Euros. I agree with Katha that their way too early starting order in the SD is not to their advantage, but the 35.26 PCS are simply great for a new team at their Worlds debut! :thumbsup: They still have time for further improvement both technically and artistically by 2018 Olympics. Just fight till the end, and best of luck to them in the FD!

I think they can be very proud with their achievements this season, even though perhaps they would have wished for a higher place at Worlds. They skated well here, though the things they need to work on also became more apparent. Somewhat expectedly their more traditional programs had a higher wear and tear than more unusual fare and didn't look as fresh anymore by the end of the season. And they need to get more precise in technical execution.
I thought they were very realistic and clear-headed in their assessment after the competition, that's always good to see.

Their coach once said in an interview that working with them is a "long-term project". Nikita, such an attractive dancer, and Vika, a natural beauty with most beautiful blue eyes that I love, I still believe their future is bright. Hope to see them break out next season with more confidence and ease in their skating. To skate with pleasure is good for the skaters as well as for the audience. For me, Vika and Nikita's harmonious working relations are a pleasure to watch.

I would have had them probably one place higher, 8th. But I think they'll have to see this as a learning experience. They skated well here on the whole and didn't implode, that's a positive. The season as a whole was a massive success. And frankly Worlds here showed where they still have ways to go. They need more challenging and interesting programs next year, I think even they themselves seemed aware of that after the FD. They need to become even more consistent in tech execution. They lost a level on a spin in the FD, that's just wasteful. That lift deduction in the FD is following them around all season. Those are all kinks that need to be worked out.very sad abt the result
If their goal is, health permitting, 2022, then they evaluate positives and negatives of this season and built a long-term plan how to address the issues they still have while maximizing their strengths. The interview after the FD sounded to me like they know where they stand now and where they need to go. Sometimes a bit of a reality check is needed. They're on the right track, they just need to make adjustments here and there and keep on working steadily and improving.

Charlie is not sharp but is telling the truth.
Considering Nikita's poor working relations with his former partner and intense competitions from the other elite dance teams, I don't think their prospects would truly look that great after the 2014 Olympics, as many people expected.
