2016-2017 Programs by Discipline

I can see Liza as a convincing Cleopatra, but I'm not expecting anything too new or different for her, unfortunately. Sometimes you just have to stick with what has worked in the past. Hopefully she gets a good costume for it! If she wears black or another dark color for Cleopatra I'll be very unhappy. A bright color and lots of glam, please!

Oh gawd. I'm guessing that Cleopatra costume is going to be as tacky and inappropriate as a Mardi Gras outfit.

Misha Ge mentioned he was working on Anna P's exhibition this year, so maybe for Liza's ex as well?

Think he did Anna P's SP too. With Morozov doing her long.

Maybe he is doing Tukt's SP? Whatever happened to her Waltz SP that she performed once? She could have dumped the SP Prokofieva did. It wouldn't be the first time her team had a program done only to change it completely.

Ashley Wagner has confirmed that her SP will be to "Sweet Dreams"

Very excited to see how this turns out!!

Yeah. I run hot and cold with Ashley, but I am VERY intrigued by this choice.

Bold and original. Provided she delivers the goods, I hope she gets rewarded like crazy for this.

Misha Ge mentioned he was working on Anna P's exhibition this year, so maybe for Liza's ex as well?

But he's talking about "levels difficulties" - she wouldn't need those in an EX.

Anyway, to the general discussion - could the waltz and the Prokofieva program be one and the same? She got the program in a hurry last season, so I don't see who else would have choreographed it - at least I never heard of anyone else working with her at the time. Of course this may just be wishful thinking on my part, as I'd like to see how that music would work for Liza. Also, I'd think it possible that they had Misha work on the stepsequence of the Prokofieva program.

Hopefully we'll get at least some answers - if not videos - early this week. Otherwise there's always the test skates...

As for her costumes... Well, even as an ardent Liza fan I'm not going to get my hopes up. That way I might be pleasantly surprised.;)

B/S FD. Is the other minute the section of originally composed music? https://vk.com/videos257530852?z=video257530852_456239041%2Fpl_257530852_-2

Wouldn't make sense to comment now as we don't know how that might add dimension to the piece.
It's the part of their new FD? She said they found 3 min piece, so this is probably it. There's only one step sequence and no choreographic elements. I wonder if the last minute will be more dynamic or if they will continue with the same tempo. But they're clearly in shape this time, I remember last season thay looked much worse in August.

I'm kinda disappointed, as it looks like they are trying to go in a modern direction, but that music.....
How can they train with that day in and day out, it would drive me crazy?
I hope the last minute of the music brings it to some kind of conclusion, as the first 3 mins are kinda repetitive.

Well, I've been thinking this for awhile: it looks like Exogenesis may be this year's POTO. It won't bother me; I enjoyed many of the 2014-15 POTOs because they were all different -- and I absolutely adored Kayne/O'Shea's 2015-16 Music of the Night and watch it frequently. Exogenesis is a gorgeous complex piece and may be even more open to subtly different choreographies, but I can imagine the moaning and groaning to come around here.:rolleye:

Charlotte VANDERSARREN of Belgium is brave to skate to Firebird right after Gracie's FB was memorable for a variety of reasons. On the other hand, she might be able to interpret it in a way that makes it meaningful and fresh. But it's such big, memorable music, I don't know. Still, I firmly believe in skaters choosing music that means something to them in that moment in time, i.e. Tarah and Danny. Doing so can carry their expression forward by leaps and bounds.

The only music that I think will send me screaming out of the room is Sing, Sing, Sing. Just goes to show, everyone's limits are different.

4 Nicole KUZMICH / Alexandr SINICYN
SD Swing: Soda Pop performed by Robbie Williams ft. Michael Buble
Blues: Dream A Little Dream performed by Robbie Williams ft. Lily Allen; choreo by Carol Lane, Juris Razguljaevs, Rostislav Sinicyn
FD The Sleeping Girl by Charlie Chaplin, One A.M. by Charlie Chaplin, The Ballet by Charlie Chaplin; choreo by Carol Lane, Juris Razguljaevs, Rostislav Sinicyn

Dream A Little Dream :love::love: And it makes the SP and LP linked thematically. Lovely!

I'm really intrigued by their Charlie Chaplin selections, especially The Sleeping Girl. I'm not familiar with it, but it's different from most of the skating Chaplin choices.

Okey dokey now I get it. Because we can't expect teenagers or folks in their twenties to actually use like real, original swing, from like the 20s or 30s. Sigh.

But this cover band could be great, I wouldn't know, so we will see....

El Henry, your post made me smile for days.

But just now, I thought this ....

Nicole KUZMICH / Alexandr SINICYN CZE
SD Swing: Soda Pop performed by Robbie Williams ft. Michael Buble
Blues: Dream A Little Dream performed by Robbie Williams ft. Lily Allen;

.... must be a cover of the 1968 Mamas and the Papas song. The original, right? Not!

It was first recorded by Ozzie Nelson in 1931.

And thank you  to the skating gods that Nicole & Alexandr aren't skating to Ozzie, but chose Robbie Williams & Lily Allen instead!

Ozzie Nelson, you're no Ricky Nelson.;) OT: Ozzie tried hard, using all the force of his bossy patriarchal personality, to dissuade his son Ricky from going after a music career. But Ricky's argument finally won him over: "I just love it."

here's Ozzie, Dreaming a Little Dream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH5oek8TK1k

And here's Robbie Williams: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MFx8ySwOVI

p.s. The Wiki article quotes Mama Cass as saying she tried to sing it like it was 1943 ....

Reports from FOI say Shoma skated the EX La Vie en Rose choreographed for him by Stephane.

:luv17: I so wish it were his SP!
Not saying I don't like his SP, but the music as a SP was skated by other Japanese skaters already thus the take/interpretation of its music is still strong. I hope Shoma's actual skating at competitions proves me wrong. :)

I've checked men's programs in the first posts by  doris .

Okay, some will skate to La Strada, some other to Pagliacci, and to Blues for Klook... Who will skate to eye, and to HipHop Swan? ;)

Both teams already skated their programs at the first JGP in St. Gervais, France, as you can see. You can find the videos on YouTube. Also, three teams from those skating in this one competition used the Harley Remhart version of Seven Nation Army for their SDs. One of the "versions" is attributed to Postmodern Jukebox, but to me it sounded like the same singer.

I'm crazy about the SP and can't wait to see it live at Skate America. I've been slower to warm up to the FS, but I love the SP music and really wouldn't mind if others skated to it. But then, I'm strange like that. I saw Tatsuki skate it at SA 2014, so it will be fun to compare.
