Patrick Chan

This partly makes me happy and partly scares me. Adam Rippon did a Beatles LP last year (with a Blackbird section) so the comparisons could be ruthless. But, if you stay away from The Edge, you won't see such criticisms, problem solved! I really like that program, but the only problem is that the music could be muted on ALL the SP videos. I hope not! We'll see. :dev2:

I like Blackbird. I think it suits him well, so we'll have two programs with an easy relaxed feeling.

But you're right, YouTube keeps muting almost every Blackbird performance of Patrick's and it's very annoying.

There is a media scrum part of which we saw. Journalists are swarming Patrick. We are waiting for various write ups.

It may be a good strategy to turn a well practiced and received show program into a SP, as he did with Elegie.

I love Esqualo but having to put all those required tech elements in will probably spoil its magic.

you are probably right my dear VB.... We haven't heard much from the LP but it looks like softer music as well... I like fiery Patrick... good news for me is that they are probably saving a great classical piece for korea

The chirping must not be copy righted!? :)

(If we're lucky, Skate Canada will be adding more HPC posts to its newsfeed, and for finding a particular video, the generic link soon will become less convenient than permalinks.)

No, no. I'm just alarmist)) ....

He says with a grin all I need to do is look at Shhoma Uno's 4F to know it will be my last Olympics - it sounds like he doesn't believe in himself

You obviously were not kidding when you said that you are an alarmist.

I, for one, prefer that he doesn't jump into a new coach right away... no rush decision shows maturity. And, well, Charlie, Marina, everyone seems to be looking at him and he can get a lot from this sort of relationship without being committed to them.

The part that I find weird from the article is that the "skating school in Vancouver he planned to open with KJ are on hold"

that can lead to a lot of speculation, which I am doing in my head now, but will refrain from posting because it's time to relax and wish Patrick a great season...

it is fun to have you in the fan fest crazy party :) hehe and bonus : your avatar is the best !
Well well well. This will be an intriguing season for Patrick. Let's hope he doesn't struggle with having no coach like Michelle Kwan did. Fingers crossed. More criticism from non-fans about Patrick "arrogantly thinking he can do it alone" coming after this news, I'm sure. :slink:

ETA: So many posts in rapid succession right now! I love it! :)

I agree. The parting ways seems to be a rather recent development. Great to see him not panicking or be rash about this major decision.

This is a very quick and concise report. We'll get more details later.

I've felt the skating school probably had a part to play in Kathy's leaving.

who is breaking the news to the edge? someone did it already? MUAHAHA...

 I figured that no matter what he said, he was going to be criticized.

If he named a coach, he would be criticized. If he said no coach, he would be criticized. If he said retirement, he would be criticized. Maybe he'll be criticized for staying in Michigan instead of moving to Vancouver right now. There's just no pleasing everyone, but I think he's handling the media pretty well so far.

I also thought that his announcement(s) today might raise more questions, like about his skating school or the breakup with KJ. I don't think anyone has asked him any hard questions about any of that yet, and I don' think that they will.

It's unpleasant when there is too much bashing and trashing but criticisms and attention are signs that he matters, very much.

I also thought that his announcement(s) today might raise more questions, like about his skating school, as 4everchan had asked. I don't think anyone has asked him any hard questions about any of that yet.

The CBC report was just a quick summary. More reports will come out soon enough.
