Just watched the video of Jason Brown's short program at The Lombardia Trophy, and apparently Jason has changed his short program. He announced earlier that he was going to skate his short to Appassionata by Secret Garden. But at Lombardia, Jason skated to Writing on the Wall (performed by Sam Smith, from the James Bond movie Specter).

I just watched Vincent Zhou and Jason's SPs today, and realized they are using the same music, but different cut I believe.

WOW~~ I still cannot believe that Misha Ge is a choreographer of a high profile Russian skater, just thinking how reputation would affect judge's perception alone. Before seeing the program, I am not sure Por Una Cabeza is a good choice, because the strong memory of Mao. Anna must have trusted Misha with her heart.

I just watched Vincent Zhou and Jason's SPs today, and realized they are using the same music, but different cut I believe.

Vincent is definitely using more of the instrumental, while Jason's SP has lyrics throughout.

What memory of Mao? I don't even remember she skated to it. That was 7 years ago and it wasn't any iconic program.

Pogo's fiery style might do Por Una Cabeza justice.

Misha choreographs his own programs and worked with Mishin's skaters this season, too. I'm not sure what you are implying about his reputation, but I don't think he has a bad one by any means. Surely the judges will be more concerned with what she shows on the ice than the choreographer's name, in any case.

He himself has lots of dance training and he probably has the arsenal to be a good choreographer, but his reputation in that is a blank, that may leads to negative perception from the judges, even when the choreography itself may be very good.

I really doubt the judges increase or decrease the PCS depending on the name of the choreographer. I wouldn't be even surprised if they didn't know or care at all who choreographed each program. It's not important for judging.

Thanks a lot, Mohacz. Everything would be fine, but I really was not excpecting another 'Sing Sing Sing', although I understood that Shpilband is very likely to give them something very well known. Honestly, I am disappointed about that, especially as Bobrova/Soloviev are using 'Sing Sing Sing' too.

Igor just doesn't believe the music is important it would seem.
He's of the old school, where he thinks it is good to have music the audience knows and gets them tapping their feet.

Probably not. I'd wager it's been a staple for a long, long while. Swing, Swing, Swing & Bollywood are both very Igor. But I&Z didn't go to him to get original music selections. They went to clean up/solidify their technique. If they do that, who knows? They may graduate to Rachmaninoff with original cymbal clashes. (In all seriousness, Igor's musical choices are at least as original as Morozov's, and Elena managed to sell that so we shall have to count on her to sell this).

I am equally disappointed with Shpilband and Zhulin. Maybe just a bit more with Shpilband since I love Ilinykh/Zhiganshin more than Bobrova/Soloviev. And I don't think it's important at all who of them came up with this idea first. Firstly, I doubt that whoever chose it second knew about the choice of the other team, otherwise they would not have chosen it. Secondly, 'Sing Sing Sing' is so overused both in dance and singles that it could not be considered "stealing" someone's special idea even if they knew.
