New Fan Fest Threads - Please Adopt an Orphan?

HOWEVER, I think I have come across something worrying.

There were a LOT fewer videos on YouTube than I expected. When I searched for “Gjersem”, there were only 5 pages worth of performance videos. Just less than 100 videos is not a lot, especially considering that the search was taking in 2 skaters.

Admittedly, a lot of the competitions that the twins have competed in have been Senior B’s or domestic competitions. And it is only in the past couple of years that these sorts of events have started to be filmed.

On the other hand, between them the twins have competed at 16 Major events (be it Junior or Senior level). And normally there are at least half a dozen videos uploaded for each performance at the Major events (apart from the Olympics, of course, where the videos get taken down very quickly).

However, there were a great lack of videos from even the Majors. There were a lot of competitions where there was only 1 copy from each segment. Or, just 1 video from the entire competition, even though the twin in question competed in both segments.

That is not normal for the Majors.

And this is why I am getting concerned. I am starting to think that there has maybe been a purge of figure skating videos on YouTube.

Also, it was VERY noticeable that there were very few Eurosport videos.

So, are we starting to see the affects of Eurosport’s new ownership? Are Discovery clamping down and getting Eurosport videos removed?

That said, there were not as many TDP or спорт-2 videos as I was expecting either.

All of which makes me think that figure skating videos are getting targeted and removed en masse.

If this is the case, it is very disappointing for us fans.

It could just be that the algorithm running in the background has become sharper and therefore deletes more videos now, due the music used. They also mute a lot of videos these days.

Music is easy to track down on YT, especially if it´s a commercial piece such as those often used in FS. I doubt ES has anything to do with this, it seems hard to mark videos, as each video will be a unique piece, unlike music that is always the same.
 
Not sure if this is the place to ask but does Ha-Nul Kim of South Korea have a thread yet? Just wanted to be 100% sure. :)
 
i would like to adopt Irakli Maysuradze if noone else is planning to!!
also, i noticed that Mai Mihara is owned by gsk8, i would love to adopt her too if its okay :luv17::o:

Hi dorispulaski and the mods of Golden Skate.

I was reading the first post here and saw that fan fests for smaller federations are ok. Would it be alright to make a fan fest for a bigger federation like the Canadian one? This is on the suggestion of fan TGee. I can (attempt to) manage it if given the green light. :)
 
would love such a thread. I noticed there is a Team Japan Skater thread so perhaps it's not just for small federations :)

You know what 4everchan? It's best to do as you suggested with a seasonal thread. We can get more use out of doing one annually than having one that goes on forever. :) I will start one. Please join me!
 
I did not see a Deanna Stellato/Nate Bartholomay fan fest, so I started one. Hope that was OK and that there isn't another one around:o:

Right now, it's pretty sparse, but I can add to the OP. Will it say "edited" every time I add, though?
 
and i would love to adopt Tessa Hong :luv17: cant believe she doesnt have one yet!!
