Oh, misha. They are great. The first one is good, but I think I love the 2nd more...misha's expression:laugh2:

Thanks for finding and linking :)

So if Brian saw Yuzuru's costumes for the first time at the competition, does this mean that Yuzuru didn't practice in them at all? I'm a little surprised. I would think you'd want to practice in costume a few times - they must feel different than training gear.

lmao Yes, I certainly did not see that coming. To be honest my most wild thought was that he looked like a waiter on LSD with that pattern on the vest. He was serving me the fanciest of the dishes at 2:34 . Althought I'm biased because I hate with all my might any vest costume in figure skating. And I'm the type love any dramatic program or mildly depressing. Also the only times I personally used white pants was when I was obligated to so it would be my pleasure to see these go. :rofl2:

I would lose count honestly, well it's a fact that I will stay as far as possible from Javi's Elvis program this season, so there you have it lol :slink: although I neither love or hate his costume
Oh, bad memories related to white pants is a serious point. Also- vest, yeah, that's the tough part but Yuzu was paying a tribute to the original Prince design, you can't blame him for that. I don't have any negative memories related to white pants. There was a short time in my life when I wore them in vogue for my sheer pleasure and I loved it! Also- all of these stage guys and rockstars in white (Elvis, Freddie Mercury, Liberace, Prince, Boy George and many others- I salut you all, ballsy guys! You rock!

Yeah, I'd love to see anyone to skate to Mercury's It's A Hard Life with the scarlet peacock-eye costume. Or better still, I Want To Break Free in drag...

Ok, I had mixed feeling about SP after competition, I think mainly due to costume, but after rewatching in few times already I think it will be fantastic program once he will get feeling with it

Great, another convert. The sp is great. I watched it again after the free and the energy level is so different, naturally. It is a whole other feeling, which is exactly what you want. I can hardly wait to see it live and see what those pants are actually like without glare etc..

From that Bev Smith article:

“My only concern or advice is we can’t get caught up with what the others are doing,” Orser said. “And that’s not where we always win anyway. We won on the other marks. That’s what we need to train and focus on. That’s what Javi [Fernandez] is doing. Javi has no intention of upping the ante.”

So what does everyone think of this comment by Orser? Smart or foolish strategy heading into 2018?

I don't trust Orser at all
I just hope Yuzuru is listening to his own instinct

My only fear is that usually when the coach says something like that it means they're not telling us everything. Meaning that Yuzus' injury is not as good as they say or something else came up, thus, they have to concentrate less on the 1st places and more on health. I'd be totally fine if they do take it a bit slower in all these competitions and be better at Olympics.

Brian just wants Yuzu to not worry about what the other guys are doing. ie. when he was at home resting while watching Shoma land a 4F you know Yuzu was itching to get out there, and worried about not being on the ice... you know it, even if he says otherwise. He is looking long term. What I think Orser is saying is that he can't worry about the quads of the other guys, but focus on the other marks, ie. transitions into the jumps, components etc.. that Yuzu was getting rewarded for that the other guys don't have and won't acquire in a year. He has a 3rd quad now, and the best 3A, so focus on those, and then work on making the whole package around those better, rather than just adding another quad which brings even more risk.

I agree.

Oh, i'm sure his foot is not okay, but oh well...:disapp:

ok so i am late, only got around to see both programs and I really like them both. The LP is his natural flowy style and I am sure 100% he will skate it really well in no time. He was really slow and a bit sloppy here, but already that was a pretty good outing in my opinion.

SP is really cool and edgy but i gotta say the costume ruins it. It cheapens an otherwise amazing program. He is supposed to be sexy and cool and cheeky and he looks like a junior ready to do a "the artist" program. I really really hope he changes it. I don't even mind the white pants but that vest thing with the collar... it is just :slink:

but yeah congrats to Yuzu for great 4L and great overall programs!

Okay, something is wrong with me. I can't stop watching that free program. I seriously love every second of it! But that step sequence--Oh my god! It was so good that it snatched my weave right off! Seriously, Shae Lynn Bourne! Be Yuzuru's choreographer until the end of his career, please!

I am confused. Arent they usually worth practicing?

Or maybe he thought only 1 of them was worth practicing before? Now it is both?

She really is; you can see how much he's learnt and progressed under her. She talks about broadening his range of movements here and I think remember her talking about hand/finger movements/position during the Phantom season, though I can't find the quote. But watching this, watching his progress between RJ2, Phantom, Semei, and now this, she really is doing it.

Thanks for the links and translations (this and all the other interviews!)! May I ask what he means by 'worth practicing'? I don't think it meant that he didn't think there were not worth practicing before?

Oh, sorry. He wants to say is the both programs are nice so that he can devote himself with them.

This is news clip including the interview at tcc on the other days open practice (September 13-14). From 7:00-. Brian's short comment is also new?(around 10:00) I hope there is any translation.
@Sugy summarized it yesterday (sorry I can't find it since this thread goes so fast!)

Yuzu and Marin combination is something new.

What impressed me is he says efforts don't pay off sometimes. The person who practice most is not always a winner. But the effort that didn't lead to success itself isnt meaningless and it may need the new way of effort.

It's going to clash with my pyjamas, but never mind - send it over ASAP!
Sparkles is what no Yuzu fan can do without. I prefer mine on my scarves!

I can loan you my tiara if you want
(yes, I have one. It sparkles! :gclap:)

Now I know what was missing from Yuzu's SP costume!

Actually, I think the pants he wore are pretty close to pyjama pants. :palmf:
But a cute tiara, with sparkles... I bet he could pull it off, too.

:laugh2::rofl: So no one is allowed to go to the next competitions without tiaras!

lol. Another wise remark from Yuzu.

By the way, he looks so refreshed against the background of the green and even big next to the female mc was impressive and Marin calls him Hanyu-kun is so cute
