Figure Skating Anime

Loool after all the fanservice & more I was surprised they made at least 1 skater straight in this  (not really though bc he dressed up as a witch:rofl2: so my only hope left is that R Yuri is straight:cool2:)

I totally thought those 2 gals chating with Vic as a couple & who knows maybe Mila & that other girl watching with her:rofl:

& too much sex talk for my taste
One may think that they competed in sex appeal not FS

I swear they made a very very crude joke thos episode
And i quote the Swiss Skater in his final spin 'i think i'm going to c...'

This episode was amazing. We got everything.

And a second not long after, I think the JasonJosh character made a comment about the state of the ice.

At first I thought Leo is based on Misha Ge since he choreographed his program himself, but after the mention of maximizing PCS I guess It's Jason. How come so many skaters started from 3A? You never see that in real competition... I mean, there are only few who to that in a whole FS world. Giacomo has eyelashes of Javi! I like how there were many skaters introduced in this episode :hap10: But why Russian yuri hasn't won first GP? :dev2: Does he need to compete against Japanese Yuri or what? I hope they'll show GP standings after CoC finish

Did that Swiss dude really say he was gonna come during his last spin?? :roll9: (or was that a weird translation)

He said the ice looked wet, but I took that to mean that Chris had melted the ice because of how hot his skating was.

BTW I am not sure if you've noticed or know but the VA for Georgi is also the guy who is singing in the ED.

He did.
A bunch of people wondered how they'd translate that considering it's suppose to be PG but well, what can you do

I am sorry for bringing Yuzuru into this (again) but was i the only one who saw how similar Yuzu looked to Yuuri at SC? I watched the episode yesterday and i got the feeling that i had seen that Japan jacket+slicked back hair combo and then it clicked:
With his hair like that, i can see why the fans think Yuuri=Yuzu.
It looks better on Yuzu than on the pork cutlet though...
I have to confess i don't like that too much
Also wow, they went full gay on this episode, i was hoping it would be relegated to only subtext, if any, but looks like it won't be the case (please keep the focus on the skating </3)
And i like how in this thread sometimes can be read as if we were watching a real competition lol

Mainstream anime always relegetated the gay to the subtrxt, it's high time they went full on with it. I''m glad the one anime I'm so invested in is apparently going for it.

About it being like a real competition: you don't even know how much I wanted the protocols! I wamted to compare the guys' elements so badly. I need to rewatch it now to see what jumps they did and find out why Giacometti finished fifth. Not that I mind, bacause my poor broken-hearted witch got to be second, and I'm all for that. I love how Mila went from "he's cracking me up" to "omg he's crying, he's serious". That man has a few issues to sort through.

Phichit's SP song is so Disney level cheesy that I can't stop smiling when I listen to it! I can imagine a Disney-like story when I listen to his song.

I mean, Yuri on Ice really went all out in getting some cool sounding original music.

Lol, it is like a real competition in so many ways! I actually remember their tech content as if I watched an actual Grand Prix. Not sure what that says about me, lol.
Giacometti popped his quad toe to just a triple toe for the single jump and did a triple triple for the combo (3 Lutz 3 loop, so he didn't Zayak). No quad and low base value on his single jump brought him down to 5th.

I wanted to know why he placed fifth too! Maybe he does this sort of program all the time, and it's lost its novelty for the judges if not the fans. I wasn't very impressed with the American guy's "artistry" especially when it looks like every skater here seems to have pretty good choreography and presentation skills and similar skating skills more or less. I do like how the animators do make an effort to show how some of the younger guys may not be on the same level yet, like one of the younger skaters' spins weren't as impressive looking as Yuri's.

Great explanation!

The animation made Leo look as slow as molasses, and his flying camel traveled all the way to Russia!

LMAO, was that ROHENE?!?!
:laugh2:

I thought that was Rohene too!:laugh2:

Yes ahahahah I thought that that flying camel was a very big mistake, but then the expressions of the other guys looking at him were like stolen for the beauty of the elements :laugh2:

It honestly had me with the same expectation as a real competition haha. Too bad the animation suffered a lot this episode but i guess they are saving the budget for the season finale (just please don't let it fall to Sailor Moon Crystal levels haha)

One thing about the animation, though it won't do much good for us now, is that a lot of the times, this is all corrected for the DVD/BR. Considering a lot of money comes from them and they actually cost an arm and a leg in Japan, it's pretty much standard practice because those who buy, expect it. In the direct airing, shortage of time and money gives us this.

You can't deny some of Victor's expressions were atrocious this episode. It broke the flow for me :( i know they correct that but i am not buying the BR (don't have a br player lol) and going the pirate way doesn't seem right to me, since i am already paying for a crunchyroll subscription to watch it every week. The first two seasons of Crystal were unsavable though, i don't think i've seen an anime that was animated so bad and this is coming from someone who watches anime since i was 2.

Ugg, this is getting R-rated very fast :palmf:. , but I can't help laughing at "I finally come". :laugh:I hope I don't have to take back my words for the finale. It looks like they let their rookie animators took charge of this episode.
Anw, I'm glad that there're no truly bad guy in this show and it doesn't paint the competition among the top guys as a cut-throat dog eat dog world. J Yuri's rival is himself and I'm honestly not curious about whether he'll win or not. As long as he can exorcise his internal demons and does't give up, he can end his career with no regret.
