2017 GP Skate Canada Ladies SP

Also, Anna lost quite a bit on her last two spins. She was wobbly finding the camel position after the fly and then her layback didn't have the usual Bielmann nor usual speed. Both were graded a Level 3 and didn't get very good GOE, so she lost about 2 points overall.

Thanks for the info. I thought the score was very fair, that wasn't a 70+ skate. I didn't think she was overscored though. Anna has a certain standing in the World, even after her disastrous skate at Worlds, she still won Gold at her two GP's last year is the European Silver medallist and so on. A lot of skaters get the benefit of doubt when they skate badly/not so good and she should too. She's earned her points.

Reading all these overscored comments, I think I should be glad that the Olympics will be in S.Korea, where there aren't skaters fighting for the podium. Hopefully, will be the least biased Olympics of recent years.

Super underwhelmed here and I'm suffering from what @andromache has called Hondamania in the past. :drama:

Lol I do not recall referring to it as Hondamania but I sure will now.

(I like Marin a lot, but she's not the second coming of Michelle Kwan/Yuna Kim/Mao Asada. It's going to be a few years, at least. And none of her elements WOW me.)

Let's get real, nor is Medvedeva.

If you get her home bonuses, you should give others too. The difference is this is a far better program and better interpretation.

Except Evgenia has already received 80.85 at the World team Trophy (which is still her PB) and then 80 earlier this season at the Ondrej Nepela.

But let's pretend that the entire world is the home country of Evgenia. :)

You're still pretending that Evgenia only gets high scores in Russia? Well I got news for you
Personally, I think Evgenia deserves her success and with Kaetlyn, she is the most complete skater out there.

Caro, Medvedeva. To name a few.

I'm a huge Caro fan and think she's best in PCS when she nails the jumps. At the same time, it wouldn't be fair for me to say that she deserves 38 points from PCS as I think Medvedeva is unfairly awarded those points. Med has the best transitions from all of the ladies but I think the other areas are inflated. For me, Caro deserves max 37 points when she's on, Medvedeva around 36 and Osmond 35.

However, Sochi-Carolina clearly deserved the PCS (a bit under 38 in the SP if I remember correctly) she got there, maybe even more.

WTT or Nepela are B,C competiitons. But Evgenia is overscored anywehre- like Shoma or Fernandez

Kaetlyn did a fantastic job today! I like this program on her, and she has my favorite jumps in this current ladies field. I'm glad this portion of the competition ended on such a strong note. Kudos to her! :hap10:

The judge panel makeup is the key. It will be interesting to see who are the final judge selected for the FS, and how their marking history been like this season. This is one of the most balanced representation panel i have seen in a long time and it is great!!

It may not be homecooking, but I've thought Evgenia's been overscored in PCS consistently over the last season and a half. Her consistency is incredible and make her a once-in-a-lifetime competitor, but I struggle to see how she is so much better than everyone else otherwise.

ETA: I want to add that she always earns her wins with her cleanliness and TES, I just honestly don't understand why she wins with the margins she does.

I'm not talking about Osmond. I'm talking about the bland, error-ridden, interpretationless programs from Chartrand and Austman being way too freaking close to Kailani's brilliance.

Uhhh... Chartrand is 8.45 points back from Crane. Austman is 13.17 points back from her. Not to mention, Crane had a < and a <<, so it's not like she didn't have errors herself (even if they were not as messy as the errors of the other two). Perhaps you're referring to Chartrand's PCS, which was 4 points below her PB PCS, mind you. Austman's PCS was lower than Ondrej Nepela, where she fell twice, and yet with one fall on home ice she was scored lower.

LOL @ people fixating on Austman and Chartrand as evidence of Canadian overscoring. That is some desperation, and rather rude to be like "the girls who are well in last place should be even more last". I guess some people can't say anything about Osmond's score (especially crowing derisively that Canada would give her an 80 when she was well below that), so they have to come for the 2 Canadian currently in last and second last. WOW. :disapp:

Osmond SHOULD have been scored higher if she was going to try to get the full effect of Nationals inflation, and did get a PCS personal best ... but it was still under 36 -- in Russia that would have been like 38 (and had she fallen, she'd still likely be getting a PCS personal best). Only in Russia would a home skater fall in her program and get a 10.00. In comparison, Kaetlyn could have very justifiably been given 10.00's today on home ice, and she was still getting 8's -- PCS scores were 8.89/8.75/9.14/9.07/9.07.

Regardless, congrats to Kaetlyn for a strong skate, as well as Pogo and Sotskova! Also shout out to Rika too for showing some fire. :)

Nice to see Pogo in form after the Worlds disaster. I really should have had faith in her and put her higher in my predictions.

Woops! May have been confused then!

I remember reading it on here somewhere and it stuck because it was kind of witty and just attributed to you I guess. :p

I mostly like the flow out of her jumps and skating skills and she's such an adorable cherub, but yeah--much more development to be had. This program was a huge step up from her previous short over the summer to some tango and her shaking "WHY WHY WHY" arms as she glares up at the sky. No bueno. :hopelessness:
