2017 GP Skate Canada Ladies FS

Seems like Alaine's just skating through the choreography, I don't like seeing her like this, hopefully she'll regain her form :(

Marin just needs to skate with a bit more attack and work on those spins and footwork there is no reason she shouldn't be better on those two things. But she's only 16 and i have a feeling she will be one of those skaters that will be better at 19,20 then the Russian girls who seem to mostly be done by the time they are 20.

The jpn federation should not send their strongest skaters to Skate Canada. Didn't they learn anything from sending Satoko last season and sending Mai to autumn classic??

she just looked like she didn't want to be there.

I agree the program is nice! I think it's the italian in me that hates it when they use Turandot ahah when I hear those lyrics they give me the chills and no matter who skates it I'm just a tad underwhelmed :( she was lovely though!

Ah, fair. I feel that way about Je Suis Malade. The music and the singer can be as lovely as you want, but you translate it into English and it's just some person running around saying "I'm sad. I'm so sad." Pretty overblown...

lower than her junior programs with mistakes? lol

They are still skaters to come, and they must leave room..sigh. Has anything really changed since the system was changed? The one meaning among others - which do not work often either - of it was to avoid situations like this.

Kinda wished I would have gone the 750 miles to SC now....oh well....I will cheer on my adopted grand daughters from Spokane!

Marin's Turandot sings to me because I can see where it's going to be by the end of the year -- and the potential she has to grow beyond this program. She's already a "bigger" skater in terms of filling the rink than Miyahara, and I love her musicality.

Watching Alaine, there's so much more maturity, but less joy.

Sunset Boulevard is perfect music for Alaine. David Wilson is perfect choreographer for her. Something complex, subtle and dramatic lurks within her:drama:

Ughh, why is Marin's PCS so low? :noshake:

Well, she is skating 1st, that doesnt help.
Its her first senior season, and if she for example slayed in SP, maybe she would getting some "senior" PCs - but since she kinda bombed, the judges dont really bother.

I wonder if the ladies third spot for Canada is messing with her head, like she's overwhelmed somehow? She's been inconsistent in the past but this weekend was just hard to watch.
