2017 GP Skate Canada Ladies FS

I'm actually not concerned about Ashley for the rest of the season. She is a heck of a performer normally but both of her programs here had very low energy levels. Who knows if it's start of the season blues, or the repetition of the programs, or an illness, or whatever. She has so much more spark and spunk and she held back big time at this competition.

When did she switch back to the old programs, though? That could have a lot to do with it, going on muscle memory with the choreography.

Ashley's jumps weren't the only problem... her performance was really lacking as well. She skated through so many high points in the music. She looked a lot more engaged in the short.

Near 7 points difference in pcs... tbh marin and ashley should switch pcs scores

I just dont get it tbh. Marin was much better in terms of pcs imo. Not saying Ashley wasnt good but not as good as Marin

Are the Russian commentators as rude and disrespectful to these athletes, and the country this event is in, actually? Or is it all getting lost in translation?

I think it gets lost in translation. Matter of fact maybe, but not rude....

I'm afraid for Rika now. I mean, if generally the judges would be stricter I would be okay with it, especially in the Olympic season. But Rostelecom judges weren't as harsh.

Yep, i kinda wonder if they just captured some wild bears or something to judge this GP. The technical pannel is totally savage

there are no lumberjacks in Regina you know... it's a flat land... not many trees... wheat, flax, canola, cereal... just shows you how some commentators have no clue

Well, you know... Regina. Not exactly a world city. How much can we really expect a Russian commentator to know about it? Hell, I don't know anything about it, and I'm from Calgary.

Strict, maybe over strict tech panels at one event, lenient at others is not fair to the skaters or the fans. ISU needs to get this tech panel figured out sooner rather than later.

The emphasis on quadruple rotations versus quality landings in mens and the microscope that ladie's jumps are put under is killing my enjoyment of the sport.

Despite it not being the best program, it still feels so much more put together and special to see a pro like Ashley vs newcomer Marin. Their PCS shouldn't be close in performance and composition.

Also, they seem to not call edges really (there were quite a few questionable edges imho, but they just seem to mind the rotations)
