Random Confessions

I'm feeling like an absolute idiot lately. I mean, I usually am, but more than usual.
I feel like I'm letting certain people (and I mean that in a general sense) take adventage of me. And being too naive in general. And the thing is —I don't want to lose trusting other people. But it makes me rage inside when I'm taken for granted.

To make it a bit more specific, I've "lost" around 40-50€ this semester just helping around other people. It doesn't sound like much, but I'm a student, I've working pretty hard to support myself, I have hobbies too.
I don't want to stop being that person who helps someone who "lost his wallet, please lend me enough money to go back to Hamburg". But at the same time, I feel like such a fool when this isn't returned.
Just ugh, all around.

(Also there are people getting into my nerves at the rink, and I'm one of the most patient persons I know (not to brag, that's what happens when you work with small kids). It definitely has some merit.)

I feel your pain as I tend to be "helpful" too but enough is enough already. Next time you are approached put on your most sympathetic understanding face and say something like "I would LOVE to assist but I have (such and such outlandish expense coming up) and I will need all I have to cover it!! So so sorry but can't help this time! Pay yourself first always. If you don't you will lose your shirt, be perpetually angry and thus no good to yourself or anyone else. Good luck & hope this helps.

I know it's REALLY early for this, but I'm travelling back home tomorrow for Christmas holiday (whole 9 days!) and I'm not sure if I'll have internet access - Happy Christmas everyone, lots of resting and relaxing, smiles, positivity, great food eaten with great people and have fun!:ghug::ghug::ghug:. I've already wrapped my presents - for my mom and younger sister, it's only 3 of us gathering together for Christmas and of course our dog (for which I also bought a present:)).

And I'm pissed at myself for not buying this darn laptop before Christmas break...:scowl:. I know it sounds weird, because I have my 'laptop budget' money aready saved, but I simply don't know what to buy - and some people I asked about it said to save more for Mac...And now I'm torn, because I wanted to watch Nationals and Olympics on a new one already. I'm just so undecided about this...

Have a wonderful Christmas. Wow -- 9 whole days. When you're working, that's like gold to have that time off. Have fun! And Happy New Year too!

:ghug:, yes - 9 whole days, sounds unbelievable. AND my mom spoiled my yearly fun with big cleaning before Christmas and did it by herself:scowl::laugh:, then I'll spend majority of time in the kitchen preparing food, baking etc.:).

And the time will pass too quickly, as usually lately...

Two words - Janaury sales!

If you can work out what you want quickly enough, you could get it bought and set up in time for the Canadian Championships (probably too pushed to get it sorted for the American Championships - Juniors start on 31st December, and Seniors on 3rd January).

But, you really need to think through what your personal needs are before you buy. As we discussed in another thread.

By the way, I was going to upload the Nationals spreadsheet after I had all my scoring done, so that I could upload it with the scores already in it. But, since you are leaving for the holiday period, I have uploaded it now (link).

All the best for your trip home, and I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and New Year period.

:ghug:, thank You, CaroLiza_fan for your kind words and wishes, yes - I'll probably go to the store after Christmas and before New Year to discuss options and look out for some sales possibilities, I'm desperate also because Iknow - I just know - that having this money with me accessible could end very wrong with other January sales...:slink:

and BIG thanks for the spreadsheet - since I have some time before going for a bus,I'll upload scores for Four Nations Champs Ice Dance to the spreadsheet and make a post with podium:)

I got to say this, you can see from the flag on my profile that I'm an American, but since like an early age, I've always loved the CTV logo. Maybe it's cause of the color coordination with the shapes that outlined the letter since I always like to assign a color with a shape since a very VERY young age.

I'm too scared to see if my final grade for pathogenic microbiology is up yet. I'm waiting for tomorrow so I can be around people in my class before my virology final exam... and they see it....for kind of moral support. Though it might be a bad idea to check it before my exam. But I'm probably going to be winging my virology final anyways since the class was poorly taught in my opinion. Seriously...yes he had some powerpoints...but he said to study by reading the textbook. And there's only one test, which is the one tomorrow. Ugh...I can't wait to get it over with.

Also I started working on a story today called "Salcows and Stalking" about this 18 year-old girl who had won bronze at the 2018 Olympics and bronze at 2018 Worlds that is being stalked for close to 3 months by this student at the same school as her. The idea came from a dream I had early this morning that involved a pro-athlete stalking some female. When I woke up from the dream, I realized that this would be a cool story to write. I have close to 1,400 words already written so far in a period of like 6 hours.

There are probably dozens of things I should be doing right now (I am flying back to Michigan on Wednesday night to visit my family) but my motivation to do them is an absolute zero. Which means I'll be rushing all over the place tomorrow night packing since I have to go to the airport right from work on Wednesday.

Will I change my procrastinating ways? Probably not. :shame:

I relate.... so much...
Can I ask where in MI? I'm pretty familiar with most of it :)

I'm originally from Big Rapids (north of Grand Rapids- neither are particularly Grand or big) but went to Michigan State for undergrad and then lived in midtown Detroit for three years for grad school.

Then I escaped to the west coast where I am sitting in horror gazing at the high temperature at my parents house (It's going to be a balmy 15 degrees with a low of 3).

It should be summer here, but instead of 35°C we have 8! How am I supposed to go to the beach when it's freezing outside? My first day of summer holidays and I must stay inside :sad4:

Just baked Christmas cookies, mom went for some Coca-Cola because she's got a taste for it:laugh:, dog is resting:)

today me and my mom finished all the baking - cheesecake, poppy seed cake with nuts and apples, cookies with cocoa cream (spiced up with some alcohol ;)), layered cake with peach /nut filling, covered in chocolate. We did good, mostly my mom who is a baking whiz.

Tomorrow it's pierogi marathon:laugh: and making up something to resemble Christmas tree :)

^ Can I PM you my address. I WANT SOME!

My toddler is 2.5 years today! And she sang jingle bells yesterday. As much as I despise some aspects of Toddlerhood, I have to admit that was pretty adorable.
