at the next games it should be no competition for the russian gold, and canada probably not gonna get any medals in the team, but i still think that they should drop the team event completely. or change the format and a schedule at least

I saw a tweet that joked that it was the reverse of 2014. Instead of Patrick Chan giving away the goal medal, everyone has decided to give it to him.

The way I see it V/M (if they skate both) cancel out Russian ladies... so to me this is still wide open.

Well, Osmond's short is indeed good, but considering Medvedeva's level and how hungry she is after injury and her silver medal... I highly doubt it.

I would say USA, Japan and OAR will remain around same score in short, without a major advantage.
USA will get a lot of points in dance, and some in ladies. Japan will get a lot of points in ladies, and OAR will get lots of points in ladies and some in dance.

juniors competitions are my crystal ball. i think of a great britain when i see canadian juniors these days. probably in a few years canada will be remembered just like people are remembering GB today. like can you imagine that there was a nation with a good skaters

I agree with you about this. As to the rest of your post, figure skating is unpredictable. Part of its charm.

I was happy about Uno´s performance, but the ones I really loved were those by Bychenko ( just adore his music!!!) and Rizzo, WOW... They had no problems with the ice, it must be nerves which caused some skaters to fall. This team event is more like a fun event, why to take it so seriously and suffer from nerves???

They have good junior men. And they’ve never had many good ladies, so I don’t see a change. Dance will be fine. If anything pairs seems a bit weak. Anyway, Canada never had a lot of depth, but they manage to produce top contenders.

there is not just "not many good ladies"among canadian juniors. they are all awful. not any chance for a top contender there, considering that the ladies event will improve drastically and south korea should be on the rise. and all the politics that canada possess will not help their pairs either. so they won't have 2 disciplines already. and having just 2 disciplines is not enough to fight for the medals, as we can see on japan, china and other teams examples

I’m not betting on it, but it wouldn’t take a miracle in the SP (FS is another story). If Kaetlyn hits with an electrifying performance, and Zhenya stumbles on her 2A...

Well yes, I know. But Joannie and Kaetlyn both took a long time to develop. It’s always been touch and go and against the odds, and yet they manage to find someone. Maybe Aurora Cotop can do it. But really we are talking about unknowns eight years from now. Because Gabby at least should stay in for the next four years, and Seguin and Bilodeau too.

One could argue that those who messed up the most, had the least reason to think of this as a 'fun' event. In a way, it's even more pressure if your whole country is depending on you to deliver. Messing up in the individual is all about yourself, messing up in the team has consequences for other skaters too.

This. This is why for me a team medal or title will never equal an individual medal or title.

well, if in a 4 years gabby will be competitive, then probably you are right. but i don't think that it's gonna be the case. i'm not even sure that in a 4 years medvedeva and zagitova will get into any podium
