2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

 My mom is watching with me and is baffled the people who fell are ahead of Adam and Matteo.

Well the NBC commentators have been good about explaining that it's better to fall on more difficult jumps vs. cleanly landing easier jumps

So Adam has this "UR" that no one here saw and gets 172 for an exquisite and engaging performance
Patrick, meanwhile, has 4 errors: stepout on 4T, those 3A, and hand on 3Lo and gets 179 for a disengaged and rather bland "performance". Okay, judges. You do you.
Jason would've SLAYED here...

Eh.... Jason can’t really consistently jump anymore, even triples. I don’t think he could’ve done better than Adam here.

I knew the men's winner would win with a sloppy skate since there were only 5 and well...this is the new normal. I figured it would be Kolyada though.

Canand is 7 points ahead of Russia now

And it will be ahead in Ice dance, And Ladies can only be a 4 point difference

So it is now mathematically impossible for them to lose

(Unless Virtue and Moir fall 3 times ;), But honestly even then)

I love Rippon, but that performance was uncomfortably slow at times, and like someone else said, almost devoid of transitions.

He's going to need a quad, and a way faster and more confident performance to have any shot at a medal.

10 points for Chan! I'm so thrilled for him. Totally deserved. Nobody skates like he does, no matter how many quads they can do. That footwork sequence, in a perfect world, would have the same value as 2 quads.

Twitter is confused why Rippon was scored below Kolyada. This sport must look bonkers to the casual viewers

Well the NBC commentators have been good about explaining that it's better to fall on more difficult jumps vs. cleanly landing easier jumps

That doesn't sound very encouraging for people to watch figure skating.

Keiji program and music felt a bit superficial after the last three programs. Hopefully he skates better in the individual

It has been all season. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t believe he’s landed that first quad once.
But nothing will change unless some big and important people express outrage. I want Kwan and Cohen and Hamilton and Oprah and Prince Harry to make a statement!!!!!
