2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

Alina's PCS was too high. I think she deserves that level of a mark for the SP, but the FS isn't at quite the same level in terms of Interpretation and Performance. But she was clean and had a real wow factor again tonight. Certainly she deserved to win by a wide margin.

Caro's PCS mark had me screaming profanities. The program was a mess, performance and interpretation suffered greatly, like at Euros. No way she should have gone above Kaori. Yes, I'm going down with this ship. It's not correct!

That's exactly what I wanted! I think it's the US's strongest field and that they should have taken priority when they were splitting the segments. I don't see how doing both segments would have overwhelmed Mirai or Bradie.

yeah I feel bad for the dance team that didn't get to compete. It's a big difference between going home with a medal and going home without it. They really need to change the rule to allow more substitutions.

I hope something is done about the backloading bonus after this season. Alina's TES was too high for what she did, too (though not under the current system). Mirai had 8 triples and a 3A but was 10 points behind Alina in TES, helped by the backloading bonus. Also, how did Alina get higher GOE on her layback than Mirai did? Mirai lost levels on her step sequence and combo spin. I hope she fixes this for the individual event.

Yeah, I wish they could let each discipline have a substitute. I get why they don't, so that it's more fair for countries without that option, but still, to me it's sad for C/B and H/D...

I just rewatched Virtue Moir Canadians and today, prefer the program before the tweaks. The 2 parallel cartwheels she does where he lfts her are gone, she changes her 2nd one and it doesn’t look intentional, some new mov’ts seem raw, also very last lift he doesn’t raise his hands to music. Basically, it’s still amazing of course, but I wish they didn’t tweak it. Anyone agree?

I just confused and sad fo Zhenya - 3 years she was unbeatable and on top and went to her OGM but now an ex-junior lady will take her from gold because of her jumps.

I like the tweaks. Especially the change of the two parallel cartwheels into one parallel cartwheel into a FAR more tango hold. Much more in character with the music. I thought it all looked VERY polished.

Don't worry - this is their team program costume. I'm sure Tessa will wear the red dress for the IE.

No way Bradie would have placed 2nd. There is no way Bradie would have placed higher than Daleman even if she skated clean.

No offense and I am happy Mirai is getting a medal, but Bradie’s international scores this season dispute this assertion. She already got 137 on the GP and with a tiny PCS improvement which she already got in SP she could be around 140. Lets be honest, Mirai does not do much to allow judges to raise her PCS. Her program is so empty.

But, it doesn’t matter now. Just sucks for the dance teams

I am so sad for Weaver & Poje, they deserve so much more respect from their fed.

It's nothing to do with "respect" or lack thereof by their Fed - it's to do with smart strategy to ensure they earned the Gold. It would have been too late to put W/P in when it appeared certain Canada would win gold.

Part of me loves the gloves and part of me hates them. They are beautiful but they also make her arms look a little choppy.

These are not gloves:dev2:, they are velvet sheath in which steel bladesare hidden. By the end of the program, they'll be scarredscarlet. Do you even know what this program:shame:is about?

Nah, they've got the gold medal locked up. I think they just have the flow ease and power that the judges love. I love V/M but their material just looks a tad too difficult. If they had been able to make the material breathe more they would have had a chance. They better hope H/D haven't improved too much.

Well I agree P/C have the Gold locked up. I don't think the deserve it but they will get it. V and M should have far higher pcs than P/C. Watch Gabby - she is good but not at the level of Guillaume. Moreover, I love P/C freedance but if we are fair even if we like the music/programme better it doesn't mean it shouldscore more than V and M. V and M;s program is better constructed and while we can't give them marks for versatility compared to the French they deserve top marks for all categories. It is analogous to some hate say country music. But if it is done well it deserves top marks. yes PC have a flowy program but virtue and Moir are probably more artistic and professional or polished in respect to their program - they really have pushed the program. But it is pointless because you can tell the judges want to give gold to the French. There is nothing V and M can do - it is kind of like the last olympics we new Davis and White would win no matter what. if the judges wanted too V and M could win on pcs. I hope this gets posted; there were so m any people on GS I kept on getting kicked out. Olympics tends to bring out all the armchair Olympic fans lol. The ones who only poke their head out every four years lol haha haha.

Frankly I'd be happier if they got rid of the Team event entirely and replaced with it Synchronized Skating.

Then again I always was a big fan of Busby Berkeley, and SS is BB on ice!
