2018 Olympic Figure Skating Mens FS

NBC had stuck with them becuase of ratings. Surprisingly a lot of people wants to see them on tv.

I think at the time people were sick of cheerleaders for commentators. TJ came in smartly snarky and were what the public wanted at the time - some real ness. Now after a polarizing election, we are tired of sniping comments and want a more balanced approach. That's my take...

Annnnnd they are talking about a shogi competition where a competitor’s last name is also Hanyu. Lmao at NHK. I almost thought they were giving me Hanyu fluff when glancing at the screen.

On the topic, I did not dare to to watch Nathan’s skate until after the 1st min and it was clear he would not bomb.

My excitement level is slowly rising. I hope Misha can redeem himself (once again). Good luck also to Mick and Adam!

Not just ruined the viewing experience. Those 2 also spread #fakenews and are a big part of the reason why people are turned off of Nathan Chen.

Not sure it's fair to pin that on them. A lot of American athletes had their reputations inflated by NBC. Nathan's case is just more offensive bc a lotta figure skating fans are way more emotionally invested in their faves.

Adam's top would be great as an inspiration for an evening gown. Vera - this might help stretch your repertoire other than minimalist look.

Oh, Misha, thank you for letting me just breath, sit back, and enjoy some wonderful skating finally.

Truer words were never said. It was so refreshing to see him skate. He’s matured so much in 4 years but he’s always been a joy. You can tell he truly enjoys skating and his father’s face throughout the program said it all. He looked so proud!

:clapper::clapper::clapper: It's the Free skate at the Oly Games you dreamed of competing. You've trained for THIS No stay back. Good luck to everyone! :yay:

This is probably my only post in this thread since I'm watxhing on my phone but I have to say my opinion. I admire Nathan for having his Mao moment and coming back and doing these six quads. However, even though he still wasn't perfect and skated so early, the judges totally overmarked his PCS by 7-10 points (sorry, Samohin and Bychenko were better) and also his PCS in the short were inflated. You might think I'm just being bitter since Nathan is not my fave, but if these 15 points will decide that one of the Top guys there doesn't get a medal I call BS.

Only the Top 4 after the short can beat Nathan now and I'm worried they have to be absolutely perfect to do it. I'm so afraid one of them will be unfairly edged of medals, but we'll see, maybe I'm too negative. I hope, I want the Top 4 to medal.

I completely agree with everything you've said. I'm really worried now, too.

You guys he still could win. Only unlikely because there are 4 guys who could beat him still and the odds are one would do well enough even if he wins the long program.

Rude of Dick Button as Australia in a whole is not a winter sports nation and any funding winter sports gets, it goes to snowboaders and other outdoor events, figure skating is barely mentioned. But hey we've at least managed to get on the medal tally with 2 silvers and a bronze so we're not all that doomed.

I love your Aussie skaters, they are full of gusto and so eager and proud and never boring!

Scores the top 6 need to beat Chen:

Hanyu →185.67
Fernandes→189.77
Uno→193.18
Jin→194.03
Aliev→198.37
Chan→207.34

Looking at the FS scores this season, Chen is guaranteed 5th and will beat Uno and Jin if they make even a little mistake.

Gooo Adam!! Goo Vincent!! Goo Keegan!! Lot's of hopefulness in this group

There's a reason there's normally a straight man type commentator and a colour commentator instead of two colour commentators...
