The hug is one of my favourite moments of last night. Especially because Javier really includes Shoma in the hug and there are absolutely no hard feelings there. He even continues to affectionately ruffle Shoma's neck after the hug is over. Ah, now I remember, didn't Shoma say he liked Javier's face? And Daisuke's? So Javier received the biggest compliment there, same league as Daisuke! :dbana:

:palmf: Sometimes I think he's playing with the media/his fans. I'm sure he figured it out. He's a smart guy, but thinks (or likes to pretend) that he's simple-minded. :noshake: Oh, Shomita.

By the way, I'm late to the party, but CONGRATULATIONS, SHOMA UNO, REIGNING WORLD AND OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALIST! :cheer::cheer: He's done it! :ghug: Looking forward to Worlds!

Need to catch up with the post-event fluff later on. My head is afloat. So happy! Oh, and one thing- the Uno brothers live by themselves?? What? Those boys? We underestimated him. He really is an adult!
 
^^^I actually think he and Javi are buddy-buddy. They've done a lot of ice shows together and of course many competitions. I still remember those pictures from one of the Japan Open competitions where Javi is ruffling Shoma's hair. My guess would be that Javi speaks a little Japanese too, so that would help.

Wonder if Shomita is already at home. Most likely since it's a short trip he'll go straight from the airport to the rink. Then he can go to his apartment (ok, WHY can I not picture this? :laugh2:) and do his laundry and get his Calvins and the world's shortest shirt ready for the gala.

ETA -- I agree with you Latremu. He knew exactly what was going on in "the hug". And knowing that Javi is the ultimate example of good sportsmanship, pretty easy to figure out.

It's hard to describe and grasp how Shoma fever is exploding in Japan now since the win. He and his related words have been trending non-stop; and on social media he is getting many fans, some are well-known people too. They are all gushing about his performance and his adorable awkwardness! :laugh: Indeed past images and interviews have been reposted and shared!

I know he is probably not ready for all this attention, but I believe he has shown maturity to be an athlete in the middle of a storm! Exciting times!

Sometimes I'm afraid I might have a heart attack. I have a friend who is very into skating, but I didn't want to get together with anyone to watch the men, just because I was afraid I would feel the need to scream and pace like a cat (no, I don't own a velvet cat suit!). It's not quite as bad when it's on TV. Live is close to unbearable! Gee, great hobby, right?! :rofl: Tomorrow my friend and I will watch the ice dance. We're excited about the 3 American teams, but there are SO many other wonderful competitors.

Amazing that he didn't get crazy competition nerves -- just normal competition nerves. And that red of the team jacket is his color red. He looked pretty amazing...I was wishing we would see his parents at the medal ceremony. But the camera went through the audience so fast. Fluffy looked SO happy! :yahoo:

I am still laughing when I look at the goofy Oly sunglasses in my avatar. All he needs is the pizza hat, and it would be PERFECT! :points:

I LOVE Javier every time he passionately hugs Shoma! I think he made Shoma more of a hugger. He now starts to hug people more. Gracias Javier for sharing your hot Mediterranean blood with him!
 
Late to this thread but congrats to Shoma for the OG silver. Shoma is the most unassuming and casual OG silver medalist I have seen, summer or winter OG. LOL

His reaction is like 'Meh,what's the big fuss, its just a silver medal. Can I go back my room and sleep now?'

I was lazy and did not post much lately there, but...

... congratulations to Shoma who tried his best and once again showed how big his determination and mental strenght is when it comes to biggest competitions. The execution may not be flawless, but the performance was vivid, engaged, with right flow to reach its mark. He is already very aware and conscious about his skating, with little left to distract him from his competition goals; he strives on competing, focusing about that which makes him such a strong contender. This is only a beginning I hope:) :)

And You guys, congrats on making 500 pages happen!!! :cheer:, in unity and positivity we trust!!!
