Sputknik is a known fake news source here in EU, so i don't know if it's true, but man, Eteri is such a boss. I love her attitude.

We need to see her on ice with a gala program. :pray:

It is true. The funny thing is that she wasn't even asked about uniform :biggrin: She was asked did she feel comfortable in Korea after all that IOC stuff and she answered that she haven't felt any pressure and felt pretty comfortable in Korea, BUT
I did not like the uniform very much. I intentionally didn't wear it because I felt like a homeless in it.

But this question is not to the organizers of the competition, not to the IOC, but to those who actually made this form.

There was no love in it - not in color, not anywhere else. I never let myself to look that bad.

it's some kind of a deal between Russian Olympic Committee and BMW coproration.BMW is one of their official sponsor too. Imagine how good of PR and advertisement it is for BMW - a gift from Russian president to the great athlet is... a bimmer. It's much more than just PR, it is a GR (government relations). Current German government might not look eye to eye with Russia's right now. But German big business certainly don't mind to partnership with Russians on matters like PR, trade and... North Stream (gas).

So a tradition of gifting almost top of a line brand new bimmers to their athletes is a nice tradition and all. But it is also a big GR too...
 
 
Something that's good for Gubanova is that she managed to get to perform at Art on Ice on such short notice. I can only assume she was seeking to participate at the junior worlds, which overlaps with Art on Ice. And the qualification was just over a month ago. With Art on Ice she'll hopefully be able to gain some more fans and public exposure. It's always a good thing when you are able to make the best out of a bad situation.

Not really. Cars are gifts from so called Olympians Support Foundation, which is a non-profit organization and was created by the richest people in Russia (like Abramovich, Usmanov and others). They give various support to athletes who are doing good on international scene, including Olympics.

well, for me it's just an awful gray thing with a tricolor on it. Bosco was way better and still is.
 
Aah, next week is looking to be so incredible for Russian ladies' skating(Yet again!). First there's the Elder Age Moscow qualifiers with an incredible list of participants, including among others:

Anna Shcherbakova
Daria Panenkova
Anastasia Tarakanova
Viktoria Vasilieva
Alena Kanysheva
Anastasia Kostyuk
Ksenia Sinitsina
Anna Tarusina

The SP for this is already on Monday and the FS on Wednesday.

Then there's obviously the junior world championships slighty later, with:

Alexandra Trusova
Alena Kostornaia
Stanislava Konstantinova

With SP on Friday, FS on Saturday and then the gala on Sunday.

There's also the first Dzepka possibility on Sunday.
 
Bit surprised to see Panenkova and Tarsuina do elder age, I guess in Tarusina's case it makes sense, but Daria seems to already have a solid future for next year so why think about competing at a place that could lower her standing in the eyes of the fed with all those other talented girls?

I guess she wants to take part in something... Would it really be better to just skip the competition? I don't think she's in that great a standing in comparison to the top girls there as is. And she's moving up to seniors anyway so it's not like she's competing with them in that regard.
 
Moscow local championships for ladies born between 2001 and 2006. Of course, there are the other disciplines as well.

What makes this competition interesting is mainly the list of participants. It's stronger than many senior GP events.

Yep. Gray, awful and baggy. But isn't if what all youth worldwide isn't wearing as a streetwear nowadays? ;)

That’s interesting. Is Russia the only country doing all these different figure skating competitions? I think it’s great; it keeps them on their toes.

Alas, Tarakanova and Istomina withdrew: https://www.sportvokrug.ru/competitions/3719/ (see right column). Probably injuries or cold.
