2018 Worlds Pairs Short Program

LOL and I'm a little bored with Val/Ondrej's Pasta Schtick. Yes yes it was fun this year but if they do somehow continue, please try another style. Any style. Irish step dancing. Hip hop. Waltz. Anything other than, "We're Italiano and Aren't We Too Adorable for Words? Pasta! Pasta for Everyone!"

My brain 100% agrees with you but my heart says that they are so endearing and wonderful that they can do whatever they want and I will love it forever!

Arena is singing "Volare"! Oooohh ooooh! Nel blu dipinto di blu!

I think the issue is DM/G are usually under marked in PCS when clean, not necessarily over marked here. I thought they knocked it out of the park.

Eurosport commentators saying it's almost done with the resurfacing, when half of the ice is still not done is like mum calling you for dinner, when it's clearly not ready

I doubt it'll screw over Gabby and Guillaume barring them making some huge error

This is basically true but nothing is 100% guaranteed. C/L are more long-term and beloved than either Italian pairs team, it'll be their last performance (probably), etc. I expect Carolina-level inflation, but less deserved.

I'm going to enjoy the Italian inflation up until it screws over my top two favorite ice dance teams Gabby and Guillaume and Madi and Zach :drama: .

I don''t think that will happen well maybe Madi and Zach might struggle. But this has to be one of the worst home nation inflation. Now if Carol wins gold we know someone is doing something lol

Total needs to 28 or less. Since Deanna & Nate didn't qualify they automatically 18 points. Knierims need to place 10th or higher.

Yeah, but in other discpilnes more skaters qualify. So like first team to count as 18 is 21st in ID, and like in singles it's 25th place. It would be unfair for 17th team to get 18 points, so ISU count 17 for them and 18 for all other teams.

Whyyyy is there another ice resurfacing, I just want to see S/M and get some sweet sleep :tantrum:
I shouldn't have taken that nap after Ladies SP. I missed some of the first two groups of pairs, and my eyes have been periodically involuntarily closing since then :drama:. Is this a Volari sing along, how fun .

Did they change it from last year? All non-Q teams got 18 points.

Didn't they have tech errors? I was honestly too distracted and barely saw their skate, only a few moments of the replay where her hand looked like it touched down.

Woops, you're right. I just assumed they would get 18 even if though they would place 17th. I just reread this:

Competitors who were entered for the Short Program/Short Dance, but
did not qualify for the Free Skating/Free Dance, will be awarded 18
points for Single Skating and the number of points equal to their
placement in Short Program/Short Dance for Pair Skating/Ice Dance
(however if this placement is lower than 18, only 18 points will be
awarded
).

So yes, top 11 for Knierims will be good enough.

For a country that rarely produces champions, doesn't have their own Grand Prix event, and tend not to get inflated scores until they have reached the top 6 tier of the sport, I don't mind the insane inflation tbh. Much less annoying than US, Russian, or Canadian inflation.

Okay, James and Cipres, you're gonna have to fight for this one, because the judges are clearly pro-Italy here (shocking, I know).

You know it's been a long season if I even struggle to stay awake until 11pm to watch skating

They definitely didn't knock it out of the park. The throw was 2 footed and shaky and I was surprised they went into the lead, although the scores are extremely close.

On the throw? No she was fine. I thought the free foot *could* have tapped on the landing but even on the replay I couldn't tell for sure. And if it did it is no different than Europeans in Russia when T/M had that same error on both throws in the free (clearly) and still got positive GOE on both.

Like Canada, Italy will go through the end of an era after Worlds so we won't be seeing inflated scores anytime soon afterward anyway. I don't mind either. And most scores we've seen so far for the Italians are completely justified anyway.
