2018 Worlds Ladies FS

Watching Alina's performance, it did not seem that bad. Her falls loloked quite 'graceful'. The tutu kind of cushioned her fall.

3 falls, tons of URs, absolutely no choreo in the 2nd half... uhm, yeah, it was bad. Hopefully she doesn't get too much dirt about this from the Russian press, since much of it has been saying that she "stole" the OGM from Medvedeva.

Well, im letting you fans to decide who will between Nathan, Shoma and Boyang take the bronze :bed:

Well...Kaetlyn won silver last year. That means that Shoma wins the title this year, as he also won silver last year.

OR

Boyang is 4th after the short. And Kaetlyn was 4th after the short. Which means Boyang wins the title this year.

We can continue this game in several ways.... :p

WHAT. ON. EARTH. HAPPENED???? :jaw:

Alina  - well I guess it can happen. I'm sad she was crying, but she still has that OGM.

P.S. Evgenia would have won this mess with her eyes closed [/QUOTE

It wasn't a total mess! There were some really wonderful skates.

I have no words! :jaw: Congrats Kaetlyn! I'm so happy for Wakaba, too!

I'm sad to see no Russian girls on the podium. Champions in 2015, 2016, and 2017 it's a bit sad to see them all miss the podium completely. They'll be back.

I feel like Bradie's underrotations were more obvious than Satoko's...

I wish we had a thumbs up option on mobile. Too much of a hassle to go to full site

Okay I'm not a Alina fan at all and I was sad for Med that she got passed over but man I felt it...I felt bad for her....awww. My heart kind of broke for her.

Nice and very classy.

I think a lot of skaters get mean spirited criticism they don’t deserve. Masha was quoted as saying basically how much it hurts her to read some of the things she finds about herself and that her and other skaters just want to skate and make the world her a better place.

So many mean things have been said about her and her programs this year but she too is a super sweet girl who works as hard as anyone else and has always kept it super classy. I just don’t understand how people can be so mean.

Alina's nightmare performance shows what a risky programme it is.
Many think backloading is a cheap trick but there is a reason why no one does it. It causes tremendous pressure on the skater. Both mentally and physically.
Add that lutz/loop combo to the mix (even males stay away from it) and you have a bomb ready to explode in few seconds.
Today it made me appreciate what a sensational season Alina has had. Hopefully it won't leave a scar and she'll be back as good as ever.

Kaetlyn completely deserved her win today. Solid as a rock. Let's hope she doesn't lose her motivation.

SO happy for Higuchi, Satoko and Japan's third spot. Japanese skaters have qualities that are unique to them and are always beautiful to watch.

Glad to see so many people liked Loena's skates.

Loena was magical. She came out on the ice after two flights of tears and splats and skated a wonderful program. That girl has her own style and I think a lot of people are eager to see more from her. Jorik must be so proud of his sister!

Here are some of my final thoughts-
Happy for Satoko but she was really gifted with the lack of UR calls. If everyone was judged at the same standard, I really don't know who would've gotten bronze. Congrats regardless. I like all of the ladies on the podium very much and they definitely deserved this at some point in their careers.

Russian ladies will be out for blood next year, can't wait. Japanese and Canadians earned their spots for sure.

I'm not a fan of Bradie's skating but there seems to be a bit of hope for the future of the US ladies with her, so that's good. Hoping she can get better programs next year so I can enjoy her more. I really hope that this isn't the end for Mirai, even if she's not competing with the top ladies, she's such a pleasure on and off the ice. Karen still has potential, she's got to get her jumps together. She's the most complete US lady, but that only means so much if she can't deliver when it matters.

I'm upset about Choi Dabin's performance yesterday (feel like she was undeservedly crushed with UR) and her WD today. There's a lot of talent coming from South Korea in the near future but they're only getting one spot next year, really unfortunate.

What a nice first post. Welcome to Golden Skate. Post often!

I scored Osmond at 135 and Wakaba at 139, suspicious about Wakaba only getting a Level 3 footwork call though, I will need to look at that. Would be another 1 point for her if it's Level 4.

This is objectively a joke. I just scored Kaetlyn very harshly on a spreadsheet and can't get her below 139 (and that's with me not giving the benefit of the doubt on any borderline GOE and giving her PCS all in the low 8s).

Scoring her objectively, I got a 143. Scoring her consistently with how the international panel has been generously scoring everyone, I got 148.

There is no point to bring a skater that was injured, Evgenia, in to the conversation.

Alina, Carolina and the others will regroup.

Maybe Alina should have skipped, she is so young, after you accomplish something as big as Olympic gold, you need energy to regroup

She has only one shot for world gold next season. Trus and Kosto are waiting in the wings woth fangs out.

Same here. She's got a lot of people who hate on her and to see their reactions would have been good as the Gold that Kaetlyn just watched.

I noticed on social media, certain people who often bash Osmond and mock her ("Skate Kaenada" etc.) are acknowledging the other medalists but are being SUUUUUUPER silent about Osmond's win.

Probably the same doubters that bash Duhamel/Radford, they should have learned that perseverance always triumphs.
