Not going to write much in the way of an analysis this time, because I am doing this at the last minute.
As you probably noticed, when I was making out the Original Post of this thread, I still included the fskate.ru Bio links, in the hope that the owner would feel the festive spirit and put them back up. Alas, he didn’t.
I kinda knew that my feelings about his protest would change by the time I came to do my predictions for the Russian Championships. And they have. Before, I was disappointed at the site being gone but supportive of him making his stand. Now, I am angry that the site is gone. Because we are not getting anywhere near the full picture of these skaters’ past results from the other sites that are available.
Anyway, as for the predictions, in the Ladies I am making a stand too. I know that with all these kids coming through that can do amazing things, this is the last chance for some of my favourite skaters to get selected for the Senior Majors. So, I am making my choices based on who I want to see get the slots.
It’s going to destroy my chances of a good result in the overall Game, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay.
With the Men, I am fully expecting Samarin to be second. But, Russia only has 2 slots for Senior Worlds, and I want Voronov to get one of them. So, I have put him in second position instead.
For the rest of them, I mostly just went with the PB’s that Rink Results have for them. Although, I did find it strange that Gummenik was as low as 9[SUP]th[/SUP] on the list.
In any other year, I would have put Tarasova / Morozov on the top in Pairs. But they are not having a great season. So, I put Boikova / Kozlovskii on top. That said, I am keeping some faith as I still put them into 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] place.
With Ice Dance, I did like I always do and put the British-Aussie partnership onto the podium. But, I kept a bit of caution, only putting them into 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] position. Behind them, I put Morozov / Bagin. I like Annabelle, and it’s not just because she looks uncannily like her former prospective stepmother.
