2020 Cup of Russia: Stage II

This was the competition for the day, and it has been an enjoyable day. Russian junior skating in all disciplines is so impressive and enjoyable.

Seems all the Youtube streams are plagued with dropout, perhaps 1tv will upload fresh copies over night?
YT is in 1080p resolution while 1tv.ru proper is only 720p

Seems the 1tv.ru page recordings aren't geo blocked, you try this link to the girls SP from today: https://www.1tv.ru/-/vmkcd

Great job, they might go in 1st  But i can't stop laughing, the previous girl's fall after the performance is still in my head

Ooo they're in the lead! Thought it might be the case, their pattern dance looked pretty good based on my non-expert eyes.
Good luck in the free kiddos, smash those piano keys!
ETA: (Irina and Dario leading, just to clarify)

Oh, I finally got from under the pile of work, and so happy to see Vetlugin keeping on his feet! Good luck to him tomorrow! Anisimov had an energetic waltz there and his 3A was pretty impressive!
Junior ladies next!

Re-watching some of today's events with headphones on, the acoustics of the empty Megasport are awesome in the more powerful music tracks, yet one can hear the blades on ice too.
Camera work and direction is top notch too.

The Pride of the Nation is fully deserving of this treatment, what a joy for us fans.

Hopefully all remaining events will be produced in this quality.

Thank you, didn't get to see Elizabeta earlier. She might not be the most competitive of her age group, but she sure makes me smile. I can see her being cast in a movie that might need a figure skater-she just oozes charm and personality.

If the audience can listen to the same 2 french ballads every season although they do not understand a word and can listen to US 80s rock music on ice, they can listen to Russian pop music. I wish people would be brave enough to skate to music from different countries and not just skate to the same English, french, spanish, italian songs. I am still waiting for the day when people are brave enough to skate to German musicals, we have some really great ones with beautiful ballads that are Olympics worthy.

We need more KINO! I liked Zhenya's Kukushka EX. Someone do Gruppa Krovi please
Kino is '80s rock, it's not modern. One problem with Russian rock is that words are comparatively important. If you don't know what Kukushka (Cuckoo) or Gruppa Krovi (Blood Group) is about, you might be left scratching your head since they are not generic love ballads.

What determines who receives the invitations? The Russian Cup seems more like sectional event vs regionals event. So are there regional competitions, and the best competitors from these regional competitions are then invited to the Cup of Russia?
This was my question yesterday and after spending the whole evening on russian federation website reading rules and documents, all I could find was "territories can send their best skaters to the Russian Cup events". The best skaters are probably determined according to the results of the previous year (for example, the results of Russian zonal age group championships) and the results of the territories local championships..

The point is that this year with new rules under covid pandemic, the places are limited, for example each stage of the Russian Cup can have no more than 16 junior (KMC) ladies (but here they are 17 ??). So with 5 stages that makes 80 spots. But there are about 69 territories linked to russian fed as for 2019. So if each territory sends one lady that makes 69 spots used, not counting the fact that the best territories (Moscow, St Petersburg, Moscow oblast, usually Tatarstan and probably other territories) send more than one girl to the Russian Cup and the best ranked girls at one event get a second spot for Russian Cup.
As you see, there are not enough spots for everyone. So though it is mentionned nowhere, there must be something else, lists, spots, quotas by region ("Okrug") and not by territory (regions are formed by several territories together)

Oh, wow, Murav’yeva really put that short program together since test skates, I really enjoyed it. And Berestovskaya is as flirty as I remember her from the last year :)

I also really liked the lady who skated to German’s song. A blast from the past, that’s for sure.
