There's a small competition next week in Izhevsk. One of this city's most famous daughters is, of course, Alina 🤩

All-Russia Competition Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Statehood of Udmurtya
Izhevsk, 4th to 7th November 2020.

Alina is not the only renowned figure skater from Udmurtya Region. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva also hails from Udmurtya.

Will Zagitova's sister be skating there, isn't she a skater as well?

Only admitted to the competition with a passed coronavirus test not older than 72 hours. Does this indicate more serious worries over the health of the athletes?

Still only 12 contestants, so where to fit in Sinitsyna and/or Medvyedeva if they want to qualify?

Anyway, this is the proposed list in the seniors: https://fsrussia.ru/files/docs/competitons/2021/4etap2021_participants_MS.pdf

Nugumanova and Shulskaya both need to compete really well in order not to drop below 18th rank
Yes, so how will they sort out the Medvedeva/Sinitsyna situation? I have a feeling that RusFed will give them a free pass to Nationals anyway...at least Medvedeva?

Good to see Tsibinova in there. But as I suspected - no Gubanova, Tarakanova and Sakhanovich :( :( Does that mean that we will NEVER see them again?:(:(

I watched that jump frame by frame on youtube and the jump is clearly under probably a 4Lz< (Vincent jumps arent allways visibly under in real time even if they often are in slomo) but he also never streches his arms properly and then its no longer as good a rotation position if the elbows arent closer together than the shoulders. If you watch it frame by frame you will also see that the left shouler rotates "before" the left hip (similairly to Valieva) this is what I meant by twisted. Sasha on the other hand has a verry good and tight arm position and straight torso for the first 2 revolutions and then abandones it which causes the jump to be under and the landing to be poor.

Edit: Im not saying that Vincents position is ugly more so that it doesnt help his jump or his rotation speed but rather slowing it down slightly. For someone known for his UR issues I think rippon quads isnt a good idéa unless your rippon position is more ideal than you normal position and helps you rotate the jump.
We are seeing the jumps differently. Vincent’s arms aren’t super straight but the air position is still nice and stable. Trusova clearly has a form break in the latter half of rotating the jumps but still manages the landing. Both aren’t perfect lutzes but they’re still impressive.

That will be interesting for sure.

The rules state: participation in two qualifiers and Gorshkov had said in an interview no exception and special circumstances.
In theory, a top 3 finish will guarantee them entrance into the final by ranking points.

Sof'ya Akat'yeva has been interviewed by TASS. Here is my interpretation: " Do not think about falling. " Figure skater Akat'yeva - about working with Tutberidze and quadruple jumps and it turned out Sof'ya gave super interview!

We can look forward to the two of world's strongest juniors in Kazan: Sof'ya Akat'yeva and Sof'ya Samodelkina, both with triksels and quads. Both great girls all by themselves, they will entertain us with their wonderful programs, that's for sure!

Technically, Valiyeva, Usachyova and Khromykh are still ISU juniors too.

Yes, in theory they still have a chance at 5th stage. But it is a very slim one. I don't see anyone beating Kostornaia, Valieva and Tuktamysheva at that stage.

I’m so sad not to see Gubanova and Tarakanova this year!

Before Kamila had jumps, good spins, or even extended legs, she had pretty arms (and those are probably the prettiest tanos too):

It does look like she got more flexible with age, or maybe she just learned to control it better.

Strategic planning, recovering from injuries, getting back into shape.

Not all of the skaters had sufficient access to ice once the lockdown was lifted. Some Moscow rinks are again closed.

This is probably more fan fest stuff, but I'll bite: I remember somewhere her crediting the early age rhytmic gymnastics for her flexibility. I think she's quite flexible here too, at 1 minute mark her trademark spin, the 'Valieva spin', though the control has also improved since this and it is even more flexible.

And I also find her arms especially pretty

Akatieva says in that interview that she will "most likely" be at Kazan too. How does she not know that yet? Seems to be a new interview and in two weeks time the competition is already finished.
