Wonderful. Not only are the Russians being put in the wheels, but they should also be made to look guilty in this story.

Please don't put words in my mouth, I didn't say that they weren't having visa troubles or anything like that, but that there have been several times in the past where these articles, seemingly to get people upset, like skaters aren't going to be able to go to events due to visa/paperwork issues and its ALWAYS resolved, thus I'm not going to get anxious that they won't be at the competition until the competition starts (official practices) and they aren't there.

Don't know if my translator messes up the text, but it says that the visas had indeed be approved but the skaters have not yet received the actual documents. It is not clear who is to blame here.
What you mean "who"??

"...only a part of the Russian delegation, those who received documents from the Canadian visa center in Moscow this Thursday, can fly. This is the information at the moment.

Passports with Canadian entry visas have not yet been received for the remaining members of the Russian team and, despite all the efforts of the FFKKR, this may happen, according to the latest information, no earlier than Monday."

Again. The documents were submitted by the federation in advance - the visas were approved in the middle of the month. Some of the passports were returned, and some were not. It's about internal paperwork inside the Canadian Embassy. Surprisingly, it slowed down exactly when it was necessary and on the "right" people.

but yes - it's all the russians fault
There have been several instances in the past of "drama" with Russian skaters and visas for going to competitions and they magically always got resolved prior to the competition. I'm not gonna get riled up until there are official practices and Russian skaters aren't there.

NOW, they realise this? Knowing how Canada has been super strict with the covid rules, I'd expected that they applied for their Visa's in like July!
Same goes for France too!!
I really don't understand this. But I am also a planner and kind of obsessive about getting all of my ducks in a row. The only way this would have happened with me is AFTER EVERY DAY SINCE BEING ASSIGNED I would call and check up on my status and did eveything in my power to get it done. Probably even several times a day. Only then will I accept that I did everything I could. I hope RusFed did all they could, and didn't drop the ball.

(I am not "baiting", but merely stating my opinion, thank you very much)

Exactly, if i had been assigned in June. I too would have worked for that bloody Visa every single day until I got it in my hand.
But I guess federations are used to this stuff and they do it all the time. So I'll try not to panic just yet...:ROFLMAO:

Also, according to sports.ru the skaters are supposed to leave October 24th/(25th?). But, since it’s a weekend now, they might not be able to sort this out until the 25th (Monday) 😬

I really hope that the skaters can get their visas…

Also, the article says that some of the coaches, (including Mishin) and some of the guys don’t have their visas either.

What if Kamila only gets 1 GP????
No, they will make the qualifiers be only the Gold medalists from the series, like with JGPF. No way is Valieva not going to be in the GPF solely because of Canada's screw up. Don't blame or hurt Valieva for Canada's incompetence.

We mustn't forget that figure skating works differently in Russia. If you join a coach, it is like you have joined a company. The coach is your boss and you are his employee. In other countries it is the other way around! The coach is the "employee" and you are the boss because you hired him/her.

That said, I think universally this Visa business is handled by the Feds. So it is the same all around.

So who messed up this delay? The RusFed, The Canadian fed, the embassies, or some other government entity?

I guess we won't know until Monday if this unfortunate Visa thingy will work out or not. But I am furious, we need less tentions in FS...

Meanwhile, I just scrolled down the SA prediction thread. Seems there is not much hope for Sinitsyna if you go by the predictions. Boy, how I would love for her to prove everybody wrong!! 😀

I don't know why people are blaming Canada for the visa's. If anything, I would argue it's Russia that needed to do it earlier to ensure they had enough time for the visa's to arrive.

That’s not true Sinitsyna missed a JGP in the US because of visa issues
