2021 Skate America: Women's Short Program

Sasha doesn't need quads to be impressive. She has a unique way of representing Spanish fire. The program is a much better fit for her than I initially thought.

Oh no, I don't ike it when any country sweeps the podium.

Not crazy of the music, but it was a good skate for Trusova. Although with Eteri watching, I don't know how she could not.

I love how Trusova's programs are distinct from the typical Daniil G. style--strange but nice choice from Team Eteri.

I'm simply too old to understand her free program, and I would love it if Eteri hired Averbukh to come back and create a narrative program about Trusova's switching to Plushenko and then back to Tutberidze. It could have twice the drama and three times the voiceovers of Aberbukh's old Medvedeva free programs.

The jumping landings with low dip at the waist is back.... although I'll give her a pass since she's injured.
That exit transition(?) from 3F is still bad, change it please.

Without the quads Trusova's skating is pretty unremarkable. Not balletic or graceful at all not particularly fast or smooth either in her skating.

Best Sasha has every skated. She has made huge in improvements over the last two years. 35 PCS is still ridiculous... But I guess we know she is definitely still in the running to be Olympic Champion.

Yay, Sasha! So glad she got through this with a clean skate! She has come on so much since she was a junior phenom - her jumps are always super, but her sensitivity to the music has improved, and her ability to move with it as well. Her upper body is more sinuous in its motion now, and she has worked so hard on her flexibility in her spins. Love to see her smiling in the Kiss 'n Cry over the top of her mask - may she have a smile again, after the free.

And congratulations to all the women here - the level of their skating was fantastic, beautiful quality overall. May they all have a good free!
