You know why you can’t reply to me directly? Because you know you don’t have anything to say.
You just jump topic and go into pointing fingers and talk about my(?) moral standards. Dear, if you really want to discuss what I would and what I stand behind - I would never let my kid do any professional sport. I will not bear their tears, their pain or disappointments of the competitive life. I don’t want to see them go through it, so I as a parent will make that choice for them. Some other parents choose differently and if they do, they have to take responsibility for these choices. All of this is very personal and not for me to judge what other parents should do. Here’s my standing on this.
No one called Aliona lazy. He said her issues with runthrough are due to a mental problem. But it is a lot easier to say “he called her lazy” rather than trying to understand what he actually meant. I will say though, he should have not made comments about her at all. For one, not a good moment for Aliona’s career. Secondly, every word they say, every “like” on Instagram, every photo, every face expression, every post gets over analyzed and blown out of proportion. People here were literally analyzing Eteri’s favoritism based on how far a skater is from her on the photo. He should know this by now and just keep quiet.
I will not say there is a skater’s fault in this, I don’t think they have an experience and maturity to make those decisions for themselves. Its a mistake of the coaches, parents and medical staff. However, you imply a malicious thinking behind it, that all of this was purpose. That Daria was forced to skate in excruciating pain daily and they watched and did nothing. I just don’t agree with this. It may be a mistake of all the people surrounding her, but this is not something meant to intentionally hurt her. You oversimplify all these situations and they are much more difficult in real life. Listen, I had a back injury and it took 6 months to diagnose what it was. I didn’t do any professional sports, I went through many specialists, they just kept referring me to the next person and no one had a solution. It was just painkillers and pain for that time. Now, can I imagine how an athlete and their parents and their team would feel in my position? I really can’t. You make all of it sound so easy, I’m just trying to explain that in real life things are sometimes more complicated.
You probably forgot that skaters get injuries in that camp and take time to recover. Kamila did, she came back and she’s been getting stronger and stronger since then. Aliona did, she missed an important competition for it. She came back with a 3A. Anna did because of that toe injury. She had to sit out, while everyone else was getting their quads and 3As back and she was patiently waiting for her recovery. It’s probably really hard mentally, knowing how much behind everyone she was, but this is a quality which helps Anna thrive.
