This sentiment, regarding childhood opportunities and their transience, comes across strikingly in Eteri Tutberidze's more expansive interviews, where she alludes to that day in Oklahoma City, 19.4.95, and the profound impact it had on her outlook and thoughts about dreams, opportunities and fate. EG could literally smell the flesh of burning children that day. EG's drive and dedication and the achievements of hers and her team and students continue to inspire uncountable thousands of children - across Russia, neighbouring countries in Europe and Asia, and beyond to all continents - to get on to the ice and compete, as well as inspiring parents to support their children's dreams, and administrations and schools to expand access and facilities.

Do you have a link? This sounds very interesting, I'd like to hear or read it -- preferably read a translation, Google translate is fine for me. Or a video that offers translated captions to English. Thanks. If you don't mind, I'd appreciate a warning if there are parts that graphically describe the effects of the bombing. I don't like to be demanding, but I finally learned it's okay to ask.

I take the liberty of anticipating and giving an interview link because I had put it aside for myself some time ago.
Warning here, some words are inevitably "graphic" but others full of hope, it is worth going to the end for all those who are interested in Eteri's story.

:thank::thank:

Writing this as kind of a joke, but the girl named after Yuna Kim(with the name Yuna Kim) has improved quite a bit since I last saw her. She won the event here with 21 total skaters with this program(they only do one program at this level): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=erX95ewMHqE
I pray for her if she doesn't have a perfect Lutz edge in the future.

That's a surprising error by that team
True, but also the rules change slightly every year, so it is possible they just didn’t keep track.

Kogan just announced that Russian Cup age eligibility rules will also apply to nationals (despite this not being clearly indicated in the rules), hence Sofia Akatieva will not be allowed to attend nationals. Sofia has already been training a senior version of her program, so that goes down the drain, oh well.

I'm very sad about that. But I feel like they don't want Sofia on the podium. Her birth date is so unfortunate. I think she is so talented.

Another nail in the coffin for Trusova and Khromykh's chances of getting into the final flight of nationals even with Akatieva perhaps not competing (conflicting reports remain on this). Valieva Tuktamysheva Kostornaia Samodelkina Muravyeva Shcherbakova will all defeat Trusova in the short. And if Akatieva does compete...

Love love love Sofia Muravieva. I’ve had a real soft spot for her since I saw her alone in the kiss and cry just after she’d failed her trial at TT. Here is a girl who pulled herself up by her own bootstraps. If she can land her 4S tomorrow things could start to really change for her.

Will Samodelkina be age eligible for nationals?

I'm so happy to see Muravieva with a 3A :giggle:
I adore all 3 Sofias (they are my dream team for Junior worlds)!

Well, at least you didn't say she was "hauled" through the airport, which was how I saw it worded in some random tweet (which was otherwise almost identical to what was posted here).
Hearing about such comments makes me very happy I do not use twitter.

I am glad to hear Ms. Tuktamysheva is training again. It would be excellent if a seasoned woman is part of Russian's olympic team.

With the exception of Valieva and Khromykh the main contenders for the team are all 'seasoned'
If we include Usacheva who was expected to be one of the top 7 contenders, only 3/7 contenders have ever been to Worlds and only Tuktamysheva has been to more than one (two). In any other discipline, Shcherbakova and Trusova would not be "seasoned." Ex in mens' Kagiyama is still considered the new kid despite appearing at Worlds once or Nathan in 2018 had been at Worlds once. Shoma had been to Worlds twice and he wasn't considered seasoned either compared to Hanyu or Fernandez or Chan.
I won't compare to pairs or dance because the competitors in those disciplines last longer with less competition and changeover at the top. But I do think it's strange to say someone who has been to Worlds once is seasoned.

Great developments today: a new skater rising to the challenge and she comes from a non Eteri camp.

You know how much I love Eteri’s camp, but competition is good for everyone.

More skaters competing for golds is good for everyone.

Let‘s see if it can be sustained. Anyone can have a career day once.
