2022 Winter Olympics: Rhythm Dance

H/B's RD makes me wish that they had stayed with Igor, or gone to Carol Lane, or anything else. But I'm so happy that they are loving this experience.

In other news, Weir does not think that ice dance is figure skating. Apparently, it is just cousin of real figure skating.
Yeah i may have yelled “the 🤬 are you saying Johnny” at my TV

Well, the ISU does tend to separate things into singles+pairs and dance (like athlete reps on the committees and such). So I guess that's kind of like what he said, ish?

HAWAYEK Kaitlin / BAKER Jean-Luc (USA)

Huh, I think they held back a bit so they could have more security. I'm not sure if the costumes go together - she has this tight body-forming costume and he has this very loose shirt. I don't think it was as full-on as the Canadian team, but they have good technical elements. Their edges are great and the curve lift with the catch is fantastic. Their midnight blues is getting reviewed as a Level 1, ouch; still, their edgework should serve them with the transitions and bring their levels up for the other footwork. Overall, I think their FD is just much better and I can't wait to see it.

I swear that French guy from Montreal Dance team is in every ice dance team kiss n cry maybe except for the Russian skaters. Someone plz calculate what percentage of the ice teams here do they own.
I think they have something like 14 of the ID teams. I know lots of ppl complain about Montreal but they have done a world of good for Ice Dance IMO. And now Tanith and Charlie are opening their own school and Svnin/Zhuk are teaming up with Morozov in Russia. I think this can only be good as ID gets more schools in different parts of the world.

A nice skate by Kaitlin and Jean Luc, though they were a bit too far apart on the twizzle sequence. This performance is cool, calculated and controlled, but the panel is really going to reward the dancers who let loose emotionally, skate with great speed hitting all of the levels and key points, and making all of the elements look flowy and easy. Into 1st, they should be very pleased!

I strongly feel one of the up and coming US teams should go to Carol Lane. I think H/B might be in the right place now, but Green/Parsons could potentially do some interesting things with her...
