Mao going for the 4T here kind of made sense. She's had issues incorporating both the 3A and the 4T into her program, but she has such a lead after the SP and her triples are so solid that she can afford a mistake.

Since the 3A has started working out, her 4T has gone down the drain, which is a shame, it's a technically really good jump. Still, the rest of her jumps are rock solid, and her spins are gorgeous. Her skating skills are very good, but she does not quite have the same kind of expressiveness as Minsol. That's ok, everyone has their strengths, and I'm sure they'll work on that.

Mao. She is amazing. Exceedingly talented. She has spins, jumps and skating skills.

All I can say is wow. Just 13 years old and she truly has it all. I cannot wait to watch her grow and see how far she goes!

Well done Mao! Landed the 3A, but a little too much hesitation going into the 4T. The 4T was more consistent than the 3A awhile back. That spiral in the middle of the program was gorgeous.

Mao is amazing. She does everything well and that's incredible at 13. However, I must say I far prefer Hana Yoshida. Forgive me for being team Hana this year

I did not know Shimada Mao was named after Asada Mao, they use different kanji so I never assumed

Mao's triples are so rock solids it's crazy
don't think I've seen anything like it before... Hope she maintains the consistency and stays healthy
