Well, unsurprisingly based on previous experience, Four Continents being held in America means that there is no coverage on British Eurosport’s linear channels.

Everything is being shown LIVE on Discovery+ / the Eurosport website.

Hope this helps

Thanks Caroliza. Tbh this is the only competition I don’t mind them skipping, especially when you see how depleted the fields are compared to Europeans.

Worlds Team has been released:

Women
Kristen Spours
Reserve - Nina Povey
Men
Graham Newberry
Pairs
Anastasia Vaipan Law and Luke Digby
Lydia Smart & Harry Mattick
Ice Dance
Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson

You're welcome.

By the way, it's a good job that the ISU YouTube channel isn't being geo-blocked for us. Because I noticed that Opera's VPN has changed the country it uses when accessing YouTube via the "Europe" selection. It used to be the Netherlands, but it is now Sweden. And the Opera VPN no longer gets through the geo-blocking because Viaplay has the rights in Sweden, and we all know how ruthless Viaplay are at protecting their rights.

I have got to the stage that I prefer to watch the skating on the ISU YouTube Channel now, because I am finding the streaming on the Eurosport website to be a curse. It is so difficult to load. I can't wait for my Eurosport subscription to run out in 2 weeks time, so that I can sign up for Discovery+ through BT Sport. Yes, I know there is nothing to stop me from doing it now, but I would kinda feel guilty about having 2 subscriptions for the same content active at the same time.

Hey, I may as well get into the habit of watching the ISU YouTube coverage now, as that will be the method I hope to use to watch next season when Viaplay take over the rights. And hopefully by then Opera's VPN will be back to accessing YouTube through a country that will work for us.

Speaking of Viaplay, I see that they have now taken over the MotoGP rights in Finland and Iceland, which means they now have the rights in all the Nordic countries. And I bet you that they will go after the rights in the British Isles too when the current contract with BT Sport runs out at the end of the 2024 season. If Viaplay had MotoGP as well as the skating, that could tempt me to subscribe. But, I am hearing so many bad stories about how they are doing things since taking over Premier Sports that even that mightn't be enough to persuade me to subscribe.

Finally, this isn't British related, but there was a Dutch girl that was skating this afternoon, and I thought you might appreciate her choice of music, @DSQ.

Here she is within the archived livestream:

2023 Dragon Trophy Advanced Novice Ladies SP - Nijne van ERP (NED)

Congratulations to everyone, particularly Kristen and Lydia and Harry making their debuts.

I take it Natasha must have run out of opportunities to get the TES.
Natasha's coaching team said that she's no longer pursuing Worlds qualification for this season after Europeans and that she's regrouping for next season (Link: https://www.instagram.com/p/CoIedoYL49v/), so that's the reason they were already able to choose the team already.

It was the right decision in my opinion. I read an interesting article with a said that the current technical minimum mean that only skaters with a triple triple can comfortably get the marks. McKay has been on the verge for a while now of skating triple triple, it’ll be easier to earn it if she’s not under pressure.

I think Kristen just about made it with 3+2. Lara Naki Gutmann for ITA has just made the mins with 3+2 after several competitions, so this gives a lot of hope!

Lydia Smart and Harry Mattick are crowdfunding for worlds:

Just realised that I probably should have posted this here as well.

After reading a post in the "You Know You're a Figure Skating Fan When..." thread last night, I went hunting and came across this British Pathé report, which features some British skating stars from yesteryear:

Fascinating to watch!

I'm not surprised - so exciting! BTW, did you make the costumes for the free as well?
I did! I made the 5 final garments in a week. It was a bit of a last minute thing! The trimming on the FD costumes is courtesy of Atl's multi-talented mother, though. Team effort!
