It's a crazy challenge, though. I don't know about medical studies in Russia, but here people are busy studying it pretty much all day long. It's not something you just do along the way. A subject that's very much about (binge-)learning.
And I'm not sure about Nathan Chen, the way I understood it, he did the pre-courses seriously, then took a bit of a time-out (two years) for the Olympics where he didn't do much at university, and now stopped figure skating to concentrate on his real medical studies? Maybe I'm wrong concerning those two years, though. I was also thinking about Valter Virtaanen.
Anyway, this season offered itself for Semenenko to sit out, heal properly, concentrate on his studies, hope for the return to the international scene later. But obviously he's super ambitious and likes his life busy and scheduled like that.
So all the best to him, especially since I read he tore 4 of 5 tendons in his knee?? That's a crazy injury to come back from, jump quads so soon again and become national champion.
