Sasha will be a contortionist on reality TV show!!!!

Announcement from IceNetwork, 3/20/08:
http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080320&content_id=46133&vkey=ice_news

BTW: Sasha's has a new journal entry,
http://www.sashacohen.com/journal.shtml
and among other things she says: (talking about the tour and 'Media Days') - "...The one question I am asked at every stop is what are my skating plans. I answer that I am concentrating on the Stars Tour and when it’s over, I will take some time off to think about my options. When I decide what I plan to do, I will make an announcement...."

It's not exactly a secret talent, but a colol idea for a show. I've always tried to be as flexible as possible & I'm pretty wowed by what she can do.

I'll have to try to remember to take a peek at that show just to see Sasha.
Although I said the same of Dancing with the Stars and Kristy....which I haven't peeked at yet.

George Takei is still alive?????

This isn't exactly a "stretch" for Sasha. I would rather see her do a lion taming or trapeze act.

George Takei is inmortal!!!
Saw him in Heroes last time, so so perfect, so perfect.

Ok back to topic, isn't this a bad terrible idea considering Sasha has back problems? I mean why, if she is touring with SOI and there's slightly possibility of her coming back, why would she do that to herself?

One thing the Gymnastic people have is the option of making it into Cirque du Soleil. The pay is super, one location (Las Vegas),the work is steady. I don't think this would be an option for Sasha.

Here's another article on this topic - includes Sasha photo:
"Just when you thought you'd seen it all...."
http://www.projo.com/tv/content/lb_secret_talents_04-07-08_0P9LAEL_v37.2460d3f.html

From the article: "Sixteen stars will compete — ranging from R&B star Mya (tap dancing) to Olympic skater Sasha Cohen (contortionism) to the ubiquitous Ben Stein (dancing the jitterbug) — in a live seven-week talent show, where viewers decide online who goes, who stays, and who finally wins the, uh, whatever they win."

(Note: article is dated Monday, 4/7/08. As I type & submit this, it is Friday, 4/4/08! I'm a tad confused!)

I think the program will air on Tuesday, 4/8/08, CBS, 10:00 P.M. (EDT).

Go Sasha!

But Ben Stein dancing the jitterbug -- that's pretty still competition. :)

Oh, you've gotta check out Kristi. She's blowing the roof off the joint!

I knew she had a sweet-tooth for ice cream, didn't realise how much of her diet consisted of pretzels.

I hope she's pocketing some serious cash for doing this because it looks like a seriously tacky show.

I don't want to start a bash-Sasha opportunity- but I am wondering- does anyone think she can mount a real return to competitive skating? How would she be marked? Would the judges dog her or praise her for bringing some name recognition/star power back to skating?

I think we've beat this far enough into the ground. Any further and it will hit the earth's core

Actually I think SOI is where she belongs. It's even more evident after seeing the show live.

I asked specifically for thoughts on how the judges might perceive her return to competition. I don't think that particular aspect has been beaten into the ground. Please feel free not to participate.

About tacky, I think Sasha is in the position where any publicity is good publicity. I think she just wants to get her name out there and see what happens. Plus, it might be fun.

If Sasha came back to competition I would expect the judges to judge her on her skating without being distracted by other factors. I don't see any reason why they would be against her, but if all she could manage was a maybe triple Salchow and a double Axel, I would not expect her to be held up. (Well, maybe just a little -- she IS Sasha Cohen, after all, not Jo Schmo.)

USFS would do a quintuple axel to get her back in competition. She'd at least get held up by the US judges.

The show does sound tacky but I never watched Dancing with the Stars either until this year when I found out that Kristi would be a contestant. I will tune in to see the lovely Ms. Cohen and cast my vote for her.

I can't wait to watch this show tonight. Best of luck to her, and please don't fall or trip!

Sorry if this has been posted already, I just did a quick glance. I just thought some people might be interested that Sasha is going to be on "Secret Talents of Stars" RIGHT NOW on CBS.

Poor girl looks terrified. And all the Chinese contortionists are looking at her like "God, why do we have to do this with her?" lol.

Sasha sure CAN controt!
She said she pinched a nerve or something and got a little lost for a moment! I hope she's okay! I thought I noticed a breif moment where it looked like she wasn't sure what she was supposed to be doing.
