2023 JGP Osaka Men's Free Skate

Is Ted commenting in Canada? And why they went back to this random order? IMO the order of SP was working and they use it in many small competitions.

Eh? Where's Simar?

Ach, I forgot that they are doing this stupid jumbled up order within each group!

For goodness sake, just have them go out in reverse SP order! It would make it so much easier for us to understand what is happening in the competition.

I'm a bit torn, I kinda liked it for the top groups because it added a bit of drama could the third place guy going last overtake the leader?!

But in the lower groups it's kinda confusing!

Although Simar might be relieved to not have to close the SP event and open the FS event!

He is.

Aw man did Ze get two invalidated spins at the end there? Hard times.

He started off really well! But four minutes is a long time to go go go!

Great use of shoulder shimmies :)

That's a good point. Especially at those events when the organisers don't think of the skaters and schedule an SP at the end of one day, and then have the FS for the same category at the start of the next day. It's awful when they do that.

But, at least here we had the girls in between. So, it's not too bad.

Ted did some brief introductions leading into ACI in Canada, but the ACI comp has no commentary during competition.

Ze Zeng and his coach are having a lot of craic when waiting for the scores. That's good to see.

Who's the cactus with the porntache?

Didn't think these kids would be old enough for a porntache!

I think it's part of the costume and belongs to a pink panther program.
(Actually some youngsters are very capable of growing a big moustache... even if I wouldn't recommend them to do it...)

For a while there I thought this was going to be an instrumental "Skyfall".

Simar is good at interpreting the music. And Mark pointed that out just as I wrote that!

As I said yesterday, I can see potential in Simar. If he could get an opportunity to work with a more established coach, and get to train more often, it could work wonders for him.

And it is possible. It happened with his compatriot Manjesh TIWARI, who we saw in Bangkok. He was talent spotted when he went to a competition in Australia, and is now training with Richard Laidlaw in Adelaide.

Simar does look super tall on the ice, not so much next to his coach there

It is interesting that the scoring system is the same for all levels...I mean covering the ice surface for a little 7 year old novice would take a lot more effort than for a 17 year old junior!
