Skate Canada 2024 Junior and Senior Sectionals

Les Suprêmes win this by a landslide.

ETA I was watching the juniors. And I didn't watch the seniors. Only Les Suprêmes did the long.

Looks like Anthony had a near-clean skate, just popping a planned 3Lz! A much better result than earlier in the season, I'm so excited to see gin regaining some of his consistency after injury!
What was his score?

I missed that competition to watch AB Novice girls thinking it would be a splatfest.

Lia Cho continues to amaze!!
She posted the highest score by a female from all the Sectionals, from this weekend.

110.6 free skate!! 166.22 overall total score. I’m sure she will break the records at Novice Challenger and Novice Nationals in Feb 2024.

Her 3F is her most comfortable jump, as she repeats it twice. She has 3Lz, 3F, 3Lo (needs to work on the flow of this junp), 3S.

3F-2T, 2A-3T (needs to work on rotating second triple and more flow), and just when I thought she would do the usual 2A 2T 2Lo, she showed a new skill and landed a 2Aeu3S where the 3S is fully rotated and had so much flow. Every jump element now has a triple. 7 landed triples. Wow 🤩

My only criticism is she has same issues as Kaiya. Tiny jumps and I think she has technical issues with the flip and lutz, where she would face deductions. Also, the music is too grande for her, and she has issues keeping up to the music. However, she is a Kaiya 2.0 to watch out for, in the future. Does anybody know when she is eligible for the JGP. Will it be during the Olympic year?

If she wins Challenger, Nationals, I hope Skate Canada sends her to an international event. Last year, they sent Mely-Ann Gagner and the National Novice champion.

Well, this is it for Sectionals!! I’m so tired of figure skating ⛸️; will take a break till BC sectionals, next weekend.

Just one thing I thought I would tell you :) Mély-Ann doesn't have a 3loop yet. If that's the required jump for JGP next year, she will have to acquire it quickly or else SC won't send her.

Sigh!! I found the lutz to be too much this year. It will either be the flip or the loop next year. Oh well. Maybe, that will force her to improve or to focus on the following year. Maybe, she is a Leona (no 3Lo) in waiting…

I’m going to watch Roman SP one more time, and then Mely Ann two times and then rest.

You are awesome. Thank you for this. I will share Anthony's LP in the Canadian thread. It deserves to be seen too. Thanks for sharing Gabbi and Thierry's.
