Honestly I do think he expects most of the people knows the results already. I mean if you are not going to know the result you have to stay away from social media. I did that yesterday when I started watching the ladies SP delayed. If I started watching pairs before ladies I would have known there was a very good risk the commentator was going to mention the results.Well, I think we just found out that Chris isn't reading us.
Barely a minute after I posted that, he told us the results of the Pairs!
Well, I can't be surprised. He and all the other Uncles did that all the time when they were on British Eurosport. Which is why I don't like watching things out of sequence. Except, I want to talk to you guys!

A lot of commentators that do it are considerate and give viewers warning to mute the sound when they are about to give away spoilers. But, the Uncles never did that. They always just blundered on in with it before you realised what was happening.
As you say, it's a basic rule of commentary.

Years ago, I got into the habit of not going near Facebook when I am watching sporting events for that very reason. It's not hard to do, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. To the extent that when I got locked out of Facebook in October 2020, I didn't bother unlocking it until New Year's Day 2024 (and I only did that because I wanted to contact somebody). And when I got in and saw how much spam there was, I thought "I can't be bothered with this" and am now avoiding it again!

My Norwegian broadcaster had a black screen for a a minute or so when the second team skated, but lucky it came back quick. During the mens SP it was black almost for a whole warm up group. So it seems there have been some issues
