2023-2024 Russian Nationals Jumping Championships

Great job Muraviova without a doubt the best and most stable 3A we have seen in women's skating. Bravo!

I love the costumes-I do. But maybe it is time to move on to more athletic type outfits-the costumes in some ways are a bit of a holdover from figure skating as a 'pageant' endeavor. I do feel it would get more respect if there was a transition to more of the unitard/lulumon/addidas type wear-and we could lose the 'ice princess' reputation.

Was Trusova underscored when she wore a dress+pants combo for her Kill Bill program? Or Valieva for wearing longer dresses in her SP? Was Nathan Chen underscored for wearing the most Walmart-like shorts for most of his Senior career? 🤔
Valieva was fully covered when she slammed the world record 🤣

I agree we should get the ballerinas in track suits because the dresses just make it look like a pageant and we should really be focusing on the dancing. Gosh what an unsophisticated world we live in.

On normal days, I am extremely boring. I wear the same ballet leo to class every day. I wear the same boring hoodie and padded skating pants to practice every day. In daily life, I wear a plain tshirt and black leggings every day. I never wear makeup or do anything with my hair. The only "personality" is my converse shoe colors that change daily.

So when I finally have a figure skating competition or ballet performance, I want the dress, the sparkles, the makeup, hairstyles etc.

It's too much work for a normal day. But for a special day, I want the total package of "being a girl" or princess or whatever you want to call it.

Ballet is very athletic and yet is considered an "art".
Skating is very artistic and yet is considered a "sport."
I like both because they are a mixture of both and both have awesome costumes. Costuming is a huge, huge part of what attracts little girls to the sport. The difficult of the skills and the literal "glitter" of the costumes.
You see that female desire for "glitter" and "pretty" in gymnastics too, but they have to stay more uniform because they're a team sport.

People will sexualise anything, there's even adult videos about women in Hijabs and Niqabs. And as you yourself just said, athletic attire looks great on women, and people sexualise that too (track & field is full of creeps for that reason too).

Changing your clothes won't protect you from anything, you have to change the mindset of people and that isn't done by trying to mandate what kind of clothing people should wear.
And some skaters want to be sexualized, so.....
