2024 World Junior Championships Pairs Free Skate

They're understandably disappointed. And, again understandably, Ava is particularly upset.

:ghug:

Well, I suppose they can console themselves that, due to the withdrawal of the French partnership, they have only dropped one position.

I'm really excited to see Olivia and Luke. They were so much fun on the JGP, but their pairs elements seem to have really clicked between the Final and Nationals. I listened to the This Week in Skating podcast episode with Luke, and he is such a sweetheart and very well-spoken. He mentioned that their training prior to this event was really good and that the team was cautiously optimistic. After seeing their performances yesterday, I understood what he was saying, and am glad the judges are rewarding them for their really unique performance ability and overall quality. Hopefully they can remain on the podium today and vanquish the Dark Side!

Such a shame about Naomi's fall.

It's always surreal when you see that happening. One of the skaters falling on the first part of a combination jump, and them having to stand around waiting for their partner to complete the second part before they can re-join.

But, what a beautiful costume she is wearing! I know I don't normally like white costumes (because they blend into the ice), but I make an exception with this one.

Lachlan's costume is so boring in comparison.

Obvious aside, they skated well.

They go into 2nd in the FS, and the lead overall.

Canadians don't want to medal i see...

They're being sporting. They've decided that, since they have only been part-timers on the international circuit, it wouldn't be fair if they came in and deprived a partnership that has done the full season of a medal.

Seriously, though. I do think that this is a symptom of the lack of international assignments for the Canadian skaters.

Skate Canada really need to re-think their approach to international assignments. Because the effects of the current policy are really starting to show.

And what’s their policy?
