Ice Dance committee wants to change the rules for lifts to define the minimum time for a lift (3 seconds) and then evaluate from there a maximum time.

Ukraine and Japan aren't in favour of doing it in the middle of a cycle either, so it may go through but be pushed back to 2026-27.

Although I can see why it might be an issue mid-Olympic cycle. Personally, I don't take issue with that.

It was live comments of what I thought was interesting, they just finished the figure skating session and they're done for the day. I started watching around where they were taking questions about the rules for singles/pairs.

The representative from Great Britain had a whole list that they were reading from for synchro.

Going back and watching from the beginning for singles/pairs:

- the singles/pairs changes are for Vision 2030 and to bring in viewers
- they didn't name him, but mentioned how popular Adam Siao Him Fa's backflip was online as the reason to make it no longer illegal
- adjusted the choreographic spin proposal so that it can be on 1 or 2 blades.
- The German representative didn't like the example of the choreographic spin they used, wants to make it after the two mandatory spins to make sure it is clear. Fabio Bianchetti is expecting there to be some doubt in the beginning like with the choreo sequence.
- no choreo lift for junior pairs, jump combination/sequence would be 2 jumps instead of 2-3 jumps for them as well

Proposed values for the choreo elements:
Choreo Spin - 4.0
Choreo Pair Spin - 4.0
Choreo Pair Lift - 4.0
Choreo Step Sequence - 3.50 (abbreviation is for choreo sequence, so a bit more value there)

It seems like most of the federations are supporting the changes, so it'll be a matter of when they'll be implemented. Great Britain is also concerned about the changes mid-Olympic cycle along with judge education on the changes. Also someone brought up the point that they should make the rules to regulate no practicing backflips during the 6 minute warm-up.

If the Japanese are against the changes right now that means there's a good chance it will be delayed as well as it should be. You don't make major changes halfway through the Olympic cycle what is the ISU thinking?

I'll take 20 but would be happier with more. As for the changes during an Olympic cycle— if a skater can't hack it, pack it. I don't see what the fuss is all about.

20 percent more for a spin or step sequence that is not even worth 4 points is pretty much dust... the total raise for 3 spins is less than 2 points... so really, if the change is welcomed because there is a recognition of the lack of balance between jumps and other elements, it's such a minor change that I don't see any problem doing this in the middle of the Olympic cycle.
