59th ISU Congress: Watch and Discuss

Qualifying Rounds were eliminated. The US and Czech delegates (next two host countries for Worlds) spoke in favour of the elimination due to the cost involved.

Numbers for Pairs were in the language for the Qualifying Rounds that were eliminated. It's now considered a drafting matter since the urgent proposals were made invalid with the elimination of the Qualifying Rounds.

Start orders were part of the package for Proposals 226-233. Belgium tried to remove them, but failed so it passed.
Start orders. Is it based on the short program or is there a draw.

Me, rewatching D'Artagnan and Elvis Stojko Nagano FS. I don't remembef if Candeloro did any quads at all and Elvis went for tripple instead of quad in this program because he was injured. And theese are legendary programms and skaters.

Philippe never failed to make me smile and at times, laugh out loud. Such a showman.

I was so excited about Boyang's quad lutz just a few years ago... and I couldn't care less about quad lutzes anymore... What a demanding fan have I turned into :)

However, give me a great program with interesting choreo, and then, I go back and rewatch it... I have never gone back to rewatch Boyang's quad lutzes.

Lol, it's nice that you can rewatch!! At some point, no one in the US is going to be able to rewatch anything post-2022 at all on YouTube. D:

that's so crazy ! at the same time, maybe there won't be anything worth rewatching post 2022... OK.. i am just teasing :)

Plus, if every jumping pass is even more critical than before, this means the skater needs to focus even more on delivering each jumping pass cleanly and with flawless technique. Which Malinin appropriately did to ensure a clean skate during the Worlds under insane stress. But that immediately carried the tidal wave of criticisms and nose-holding that this is (duh!) not artistic and people wailed for lower PCS.
Nah. Everybody thought Malinin's performance was great. None of these changes will compromise the big jumpers looking to maximize their tech potential. Conversely, the changes will not, by themselves, produce programs that are more artistic.

Right before the screen went off the guy who wanted to have his say earlier in the day came back for one minute and got up on his metaphorical soapbox and addressed the whole room as if they were idiots. "Do you realize we're going from 7 to 6? Do you?" Then, if you can believe it, he tried to force a raising of cards again just for his own benefit. Seriously, what the heck? The vote already happened, pal. I realize you don't like the outcome but when do people realize procedure exists for a reason. When I see this type of rubbish, it pisses me off.

It was armenian delegate, funny coincidence, Ilia's manager.

6 jumping passes. Why can't 2 be combos? Is the stupid step out Euler gone? And what about strict edge calls? Now only six jumps needed so no excuse to have flip and Lutz be in the program. So now salchow and loop are going to get no love.

Some other good news: the ISU mentioned in a press conference that for this season, streaming will largely stay the same, but in future seasons they may move all events (including Challengers, GPs, Championships, etc.) onto their website with what I presume will be a single subscription to watch all skating (they say it's too early to discuss cost). It depends a lot on broadcast renewal rights, but this would prevent videos from being removed due to copyright and prevent us from having to pay for 75 million different services to watch the Challenger series. We would also get professional streaming services on all events with this (I love you IceChallenge man but the Post-It notes don't cut it). They are also upgrading the judging technology this season (I presume this means they will no longer be using CD players and 2005 Dell computers)

Ouch, come on. Unnecessary. Yuma and Adam and all your other favorite skaters would be sad. But I do always wonder if people in the US will wonder what happened to skating in non-Olympic years since the Olympic Channel will post things from the Olympics. Like there's not even an opportunity to get into it for ANY skater. I see so many other Olympic sports getting more YouTube and online coverage, and skating has gone backward in that respect. OK, getting off-topic though.

And ugh, Ari Zakarian is actually there?! Jesus...
