Summer Challenge by Channel One

Channel One came to the training camp of Sokolovskaia and Rukavitsin.

They had invited several skaters who had to draw lots for random music and make an exhibition for it in two days.

Of men, Mark Kondratiuk, Dmitri Aliev, Matvei Vetlugin and Grigory Fedorov took part.

Thanks for the links! I enjoyed Fedorov, Vetlugin, and Aliev's programs. I though Kondratiuk's was the weakest. I usually think he has interesting programs so I was looking forward to this. I don't think he matched up well with the music perhaps?

Vetlugin's take on Carmina Burana was different. I liked it! Although I was worried about the cards on the ice.

And extra points to Aliev for getting his coach to participate - in costume even - and for making that basket!

His unconventional programs were never appreciated by the referees and fans, so I won't miss them. I'd rather continue his career than his end up with substandard programs in his portfolio. Hopefully now he will at least start to be appreciated the way he deserves.

Andrei is dissolving into music. I really liked his deep rib skating and deep inabauer. That should be really, really beautiful. We'll have to wait for the first skating of the whole program.
