2024 Riga Cup Women's Short Program

Okay I know I say this every season but I swear I saw that dress on another skater, a Russian one maybe?

Can it be? Is somebody actually skating to Alexandra Burke's version of "Hallelujah"?

:cheer:   :party2: :points: :hb:

And then she spoils it by wearing a dress that blends in with the ice. :palmf:

HOWEVER, at least she has a belt which breaks it.

Awww, Milana is so cute sitting there with her teddy bear! While Denis Gurdzhi sits beside her holding a cuddly dog and looking totally miserable!

To be fair, Milana doesn't look very hapopy either.

She goes into 5th.

Our first Hallelujah cover of the season, whee
Oh good, it's not just me thinking "whhhhyyyyyyyyyy?" The singer seems to be under the impression she is Conducting A Masterclass In Pomposity.

The skater is adorable, lovely dress and the skating felt very light and pretty to me.

And next is an Aussie!!!!:clap::clap: but this is not a good choice of music when you want to convince people that you are more than enough....

Absolutely lovely dress...and my least favorite new-gen warhorse. :( I love a power ballad, but I can't watch a Never Enough program without getting incredibly hung up on the fact that the lyrics don't make any sense and this kind of kills the mood...

But that is a me problem.

Nice debut from Andrea! Music is obviously not my favorite, but the program works for her.

The typos in the planned program content have been really bad... we had Part of the World by Baile (it's supposed to be Part of Your World by Halle Bailey) and now Never Eough, which I'm pretty sure is the noise I make when my tea is too hot.

The younger the skaters become the older I feel. All of them could be my daughters :eek2:
I started following the JGP when I was thirteen, so for the bulk of the time I've been watching it, they were my peers...and now I'm a geriatric graduate student ranting at my screen about how "YOU NEED TO HAVE FILED A TAX RETURN TO UNDERSTAND THE EMOTIONAL LAYERS OF THIS MUSIC-" like someone's cranky great-aunt...

Heh.

koreans confirm their excelent fashion sense although this dress is too busy on the lower part

It is beautiful, almost as pretty as Mao's and I would guess cost a LOT less.

My biggest problem with the music (apart from not telling the judges you are ;bever enough') is that almost every blessed vocalist has to sing the long loud "meeeeee" as "maaaaaaaayyyowwwwww" and I know if they are good they can pronouce it properly even at full belt because I've heard a few do it. And I hate it.

My mind is seriously blown...is Sergei D still in Russia? Does Andrea train in Russia? If so, that's a bit awkward...
Anastasia Brandenburg, who will skate in the next group, also trained with Tutberidze this summer, it's not uncommon...but weird.

I made a very embarrassing noise when I saw Nayeon's 3Lz. I haven't watched any of the Korean junior qualifiers this season, so I didn't know to expect that! Absolutely fantastic skate, and I can't wait to see more from Nayeon.

A few of the top Korean juniors have jumps that terrify me, so I am very happy to add one who doesn't to my list (that only has Jia on it at the moment...).

I see the Korean dressmakers haven't taken any breaks during the off-season. I'm happy to see Nayeon start to perform more. The program is still a bit generic but she gave it her all and sold it far more than earlier in the season. After the past few disasters she's had while competing internationally, this is a huge step forwards, and those jumps were gorgeous!
