2025 South Korean Figure Skating Championships

I just finished watching.
I decided just to take a shower and skip watching a film. I watched the competition via Japanese channel.

S. Wi was underscored

Yuj. Kim landed a 3A!!
Her 3Lo was wonky and her skating skills were subpar. But, still, a triple axel and a triple triple isn’t enough for a 70+ score… Korean federation is so strict. Funny that she went for a 3A as she knows that she needs to go for broke to nab that second spot over her sister.

H. Lee was underscored too…
Yus. Kim’s triple triple better be marked a < for the 3T. I thought they overscored her. I would have marked Ko higher than her.

C. Kim and Jia Shin rivalry is interesting. The Korean federation clearly loves Jia Shin more. I prefer Chaeyon. Is Jia still coached by Orser camp?
She really is improving as the season continues. Could she finally win Junior Worlds after three straight silver medals?

Is that why she has improved so quickly?

This really makes our Orser camp look really bad… they take a star and with them, she posts her worst results where she doesn’t even make the JGP Finals and then she leaves the camp and she is back to her normal calibre.

FS will be a different beast, but Haein's SP looked great and worthy for Worlds team, which is insane to me considering everything she did this season. (Also really the most compelling performer of this lot...)

As for Jia's coaching changes, I don't think it's right to blame Orser for her GP results. It takes time to adjust to new trainig environment, especially when it takes to change continent, culture, training approach, technique. Both student and coach need to recognise each other. Brian used to say it takes over a year. Also, she's at puberty time, so probably facing some difficulties. In Korea with coach Chi it seems more like group training which Jia's probably familiar with, so short term it brings faster results. Long term, we will see.
Last year Jia went to Japan to train with coach Nakaniwa and his team but also came back quickly to Korea only after few months. Similar scenario. I might be wrong but from my perspecitve it looks like some adults behind her (parents or fed??) are a little bit impatient, they make big changes for her quite often and maybe expect imidiate results, not giving it time it needs. Of course, there may be also other factors behind the scene, school etc.
