2025 World Championships Women's Short Program

Um, did Chris mean "touch and go" instead of "nip and tuck?"
To me, the first meaning of "touch and go" is an airplane landing where the plane just touches down, then takes off again. Too many aviation videos!

But being North American, I agree with the other meaning of "nip and tuck", which leaves me with no phrase for this situation. Maybe "on the cusp"?

I'm hoping for clean skates in the final 2 groups. I was about to make a sacrifice to rinky when all these women kept falling and making mistakes, but then julia Sauter, Alysa liu, and wakaba higuchi showed up!

The score to qualify for the free

2021 - 57.72
2022 - 55.71
2023 - 54.65
2024 - 53.81
2025 - 53.68 (or lower)

So, the level keeps going down? Maybe because of the senior age changes:unsure:

Wow, 32 PCS. The combo was completely rotated no underrotations unlike the leader.

2.5 point gap to first :rolleye:
Exactly. Alyssa underrotated her second triple of her combo. Tech panel is blind or swayed. I hate when judges get it wrong. Sometimes they give URs when skaters are clean due to politics and biased perceptions. Other times they coddle and protect favorites. Alyssa is a good skater, but her sp score is so inflated. 70 or 71 would be more accurate. Or 69 if they fairly accounted for the UR. Wakaba was def better than Alyssa, IMHO.

Hopefully, no favorites will be played in the fp. In her career, Alyssa, IMO, has always been overhyped. I guess it helps that she is talented and she exudes confidence, combined with the political favor.

Yes, I think "on the cusp" would be sufficient!

I don’t mind inflation as long as it’s applied fairly to all the skaters. Since Alysa has gone 74.58 with a clean skate, then Amber needs to go 80+ if she skates clean given she is attempting the most difficult technical content in the event.

Listening to our judge commentator he said Alysa's skating is just one move from beginning to the end. No big waiting times or just only skating without doing nothing between the elements, but she has choreo all the time, that the reason she got good pcs.

To be fair, Alysa has always been one of those skaters (Young You was another) who looks very clean. But when you check the jumps there might be slight underrotations. Sometimes the tech panel pick up on it, sometimes not.
