2025 World Championships Women's Short Program

Or Wakaba’s
Kaori was 4th after the Short last season, over 3.5 points back from first and won at the end. Not saying this will happen again this season, Kaori is not the same skater and neither is anyone else competing here, but it's just to say that ice is slippery and movement can and will happen.
There's not much give between a lot of these placements and lots of skaters who can be hit-or-miss.

Chaeyeon is so stable usually, I am always surprised when she makes a mistake on a jump. Shame it had to happen today after her great season..

And she was placed all the way down at 11th, pretty shocking.
This was her championship to win. I’m surprised she made a mistake. I don’t particularly like her skating (just indifferent), but I saw her as the favourite coming in.

Watching the women make me depressed. There are so many with phenomenal skating skills that should be strongly in top 10.
Sorry but Schizas is NOT a top 6 skater, not even top 12.

Ok, you may rate some skaters lower than other ones but I find it very disrespectful towards Schizas and I'm not even a big fan of hers. And I mean we have a competition for a reason and this is not some glorified crowning out there. Also ice is slippery.

Wow. I only saw some of the ladies. Yay Alyssa what a comeback and ditto for Isabeau but Amber is still in striking zone. I don't think a US sweep is likely. Mone, wakaba or Kaori - one of them is likely to podium. I am impressed by Isabeau and Alyssa though others opened the door for them. Sad about Kim but thats skating. Kind of thought the Canadian girl was harshly marked. But then again with Kaori ahead what to do. The scores are so close.

Cursed ice. I think the ice is just a tad too soft for skaters like Chaeyon who rely on a very good toe-pick to get height on their jumps. It's also a NIH-sized rink, so lots of skaters have to skate smaller than usual. Kaori also wasn't super comfortable with the smaller rink last year in Canada (she placed 4th in the Short then).
It's a good point. It's a figure skating championship it should be on a regulation sized rink, not a regulation NA hockey rink. Probably the heating in the arena is too high as well for spectator comfort so they can take off their coats. It's not good enough for the premier event.

Kaori could definitely still win if she skates her best. The only skater who I think could beat her if she does is Mone at HER best. I think the other 3 are probably fighting for the other medals.

I know the rink is a little bit smaller but what's up with the ice being soft? Did some skaters complain or you deduced that from something? I remember World Championships in 2016 held here in Boston and skaters really doing so well.
