Although the official version is that Sofia left on her own, RIA reports that she was actually expelled for systematic inappropriate training behaviour.

https://rsport.ria.ru/20250414/muraveva-2011228892.html
The full official version is that Sofia herself asked to be expelled due to "not properly fulfilling her duties and not meeting the requirements of the coaching staff". AoP took it upon themselves to post her handwritten statement.

Very uncomfortable statement, to be honest. Either she was forced to write this, which would be absolutely horrible, or she wrote this on her own, which poses a lot of questions about her mental state and the situation in training (i.e. is she echoing how she was being treated by her coaches?).

If she goes to Eteri, her career will probably be finished after the next season...Eteri has yet to have any real success with a skater over 18 (Lisa T, who looked no older than 14 and retired the next season due to injuries, just further proves my point). Plus, she's clearly a sensitive, emotional girl. Her temperament doesn't seem at all suited for Eteri. Mishin is a better option, but idk if he'd take her.
Personally, I'd love to see her at Snow Leopards. The programs would be amazing 😍

I don't think she will survive in Eteri camp. If she is already struggling at Plushenko's where she is essentially their top skater and main priority, the cut throat competition at Eteri's where 4-5 girls will be breathing on her neck everyday is going to be a nightmare for her.

Also the political dynamics in that camp is now changing with Dudakov, Danil and few of their junior coaches given more say and control in training as Eteri scaled back and is more focused on the administrative side of things.

I want her to go abroad but I don't know how is her financial situation looks like because the skaters who attempted this end up footing some, if not most of the cost.

No I don't think that proves your point. I think it's quite obvious she would have never reached a World Championships medal without Eteri. And I find your comment about her looks quite inappropriate.. And I also think that for a "sensitive, emotional girl" Eteri group is much more suited than Pushenko's.

Muravieva switched to Mishin (RIA).

Seems to be true as he refused to talk to journalists.

Interestingly, Mishin recently said that he had refused a strong lady to focus on the skaters he already had. I wonder what changed.

Maybe Mishin took her because she was with Plushenko before (out of loyalty or because he'd be more familiar with Sofia and how she was trained before than with most other skaters)? Or maybe he's taking into account his Junior coaches more now, with Liza & Sofia Samodurova both starting to build their own groups of skaters under him?

Liza isn't building her own group, she's more like a consultant. With such a busy schedule of shows and other projects, she simply can't be a full-time coach. And Samodurova has been coaching for three seasons.

I wonder if that skater could be Muravieva but it happened mid-season. 🤔

Edit: According to sport-express, it was Yametova.

Liza does have a busy schedule, but she also said that she was taking coaching somewhat more seriously now than before. Currently, she's making good money in shows, but in the future, she'll need the experience she can gather now to work as a coach.
Samodurova has indeed been coaching for three seasons, but she's definitely gaining more independence and taking more responsibility, so I could see her opinion gaining more weight as time progresses.

To be fair, I can see why Mishin wouldn't be interested in Yametova. Not because she's not a good skater, but because she, imo, would need more help on the technical side than someone like Muravieva would. Mostly, their job with Mura will be to get her to focus only on skating and keep a calmer head in competitions. Not that that's easy either, but it's a different kind of work, if you know what I mean.

I don't think it's inappropriate but relevant to the fact that she most likely never would've been able to land a quad at her age otherwise. And yes, she got a worlds medal, but like I said, then retired the very next season from injuries.
I assume that's not what Mura wants, especially with the current lack of international competitions.

Anyway, I'm glad she chose Mishin. I hope to see Liza working with her! I think she'd be able to help Mura a lot with her emotions and offering her a shoulder to lean on

Гран-при России по фигурному катанию 2024/25

Margarita Bazylyuk: 3A-3T, 3A, 4S... 4T-Eu-3S, 4T-2A-seq....

Oh, I think she's better than the Russian girls at this point.
She has great spins and the jumps although small a quite consistent (although problems with rotating 3A and especially 4T rarely reflected in the scoring though).

But the transitions and artistry in general just doesn't have the sophistication of many of the Russian girls. She still very much skates like a junior there's a lack of maturity to the performances. Not to mention there are skaters the same age who have three quads in their free skate and having to compete against younger girls with 5 quads in their free skate, so it's a different kind of competitive pressure that Shimada hasn't faced for years.
