2025 Russian Junior Test Skates

I dont know she kept a perfect line for like 30 seconds I thought it was super impressive visually
One issue is 'running steps' to build up speed. It is sort of...like cheating and a cheap way to build up speed for the Step Seq, and defeats the entire point of a step seq (which is to use your edging)

Another beautiful program for lidia. I love the “two-side” music and she gained so much maturity. She and dzepka are at another level in terms of “senior level” (and Petrova as well I guess).

I’m thrilled to see vika at junior level. It will be a great fight this season.

True I was going to mention I dont like the toe-steps either, they can work as a fleeting transition but not as an independent element. I wouldn't really hold that against the StSq though it was before. I dont think she is incapable of just gliding into it I think they did it for a choreo effect.

The program that really knocked my socks off-Lydia. Every second of choreo was unique and interesting.
I agree. Definitely program of the night. Dzepka's performance probably the most impressive from a purely technical perspective, not sure... (I mean, holistically, not literally just TES).

To be just, I really liked Sofia Samodelkina and Isabeau Levito's skates (plus von Felten in Juniors) but they were very ahead of the rest.
I really dont think either of them can compare to what Pleskacheva and Dzepka presented today. Definitely not Isabeau. We had like 2 or 3 3As as well I cant remember if Andreeva jumped one. This event was a completely different level and we were missing an entire 4 masters. And its just a junior test skates. The chasm is absolutely enormous.

Andreeva did not do 3A but it was said she works on it's restoration for this season.

Hello everyone,

As someone who has been watching these test skates from Russia, I couldn't help but notice that the filming quaity dropped as opposed to previous junior skates. Yesterday, there was only one camera, they added another (for one specific angle) today. After talking to some fans, there is a possibility it has to do with an unexpected passing of Alexander Grishin. One of Russian journalists (Vlad Zhukov) implied that this filming is not done by Channel One but by the Fed itself while the C1R only does broadcasting. Anyways, Anna Scherbakova will be filming a vlog for C1R social media as she was noticed today in the background.

As for performances, I've only seen boys and, as a Depeche Mode fan (attended their concerts twice!), Arseniy doesn't have enough hip action to channel Dave Gahan lmao

Channel One often broadcasts juniors via just one camera. That doesn't seem like something new to me.

A video from the first junior stage last season. Only one camera, the K&C filmed on someone's IPhone.

I think so too. This camera must be the referee's one.

By the way, welcome to Golden Skate!

As far as I remember every year it is the same story with Jr test skates. They say they won't show it, then they cave in and add footage from technical camera on TV 1.

From your notes, I am really looking forward to catching up once I am back home along with Riga's stage. Gosh, the season has started! So glad that Dzepka and Pleskacheva are building on the last year's success.
