So what happened apparently was that some people criticized/bashed on Twitter more than simply saying they didn't love it/it wasn't their cup of tea...I didn't see it myself, but people in a Discord server I'm in said apparently some stuff that was said crossed the line.

Is it me or Adam lost his balance on his quad jump since that he has Aura boots ? It seem to me that he was not skating with Aura boots in 2024 Montreal World and have better balance in his quad with his old skate brand. Maybe he should rebuy his old skate brand and that Aura boots doesn't work for him ?

As far as I remember, he uses Auras for sole time, including in Montreal. The problem is elsewhere - either he is still ill or his inner battle of Adams continues.

Nah, I disagree, in those days skaters that were really really weak technically got a jail free card. That wasn't good either. I won't say any names, but quite a few skaters just "disappeared" when the IJS system got going because they weren't that good technically.

I am a mostly a technical fan overall, but seeing the use of PCS just like they did in the 6.0 era is just irritating to me.

Love Torgashev btw, he and the junior Blackwell is my fave American skaters right now...

Boitano was good both technically and with presentation. Remember I said rarely? Well, he was my fav American for a long time.

Did he skate to the PoC yet? Poto? There is a whole treasure trove of warhorses to chose from that wouldn't stress the audience unnecessarily. Or rob them of the illusion that they are watching something other than a guy born in 2004 with attitude and unique athletic capability. Honestly, my gripe with Yuma is exactly the opposite. His music is never what i can belive can possibly reflect his personality, it's always so overused, it's like a stereotype of FS.

Well, I think I know where Ilia's inspiration for this FS came from, and as it often happens, he just aimed too high, well beyond his capabilities at the moment. He is not an artistic skater, and he's not a sage, at least not yet, and it seems no one at his team has a feel for it, so he just makes a fool of himself going over the board to prove otherwise. He'd be much better off with some less pretentious programs.

It all sounded like long drawn out guttural burps on my end. I could barely tell it was words it was so garbled.

This is my beef with spoken words and even with lyrics, The sound system and the acoustics in a skating rink are seldom good enough to make out the words anyway, and straining to do so just detracts the audience from the skating.

For me. if you MUST use lyrics, make it someone singing opera in Italian. Since I don't speak Italian the voice is just another instrument in the orchestra and the skater can try to interpret the actual music and forget about pantomiming the words.

Eh, better aim too high than too low and still miss it. Now, that would be a bummer. I mean, how the heck you learn to be artistic if not by skating artistic programs? Might as well suggest to boys who are not great in jumping to stop jumping in their programs, so they don’t aim too high.

No, it was not artistic at all, sorry. And you learn by doing in practice, not in competition. In competition you should be just assessed for what you show, not for what you are trying to learn, Sadly, it does not work this way in this sport.

He has artistry. If you looked at what he was at 3 years ago, he has improved a LOT. Sure it's not the traditional artistry. But he feels the programs. He likes what he skates to. The voiceovers are amusing to say the least, but his choice. It'll probably look better as the season progresses.

Strangely I was never a Boitano fan back then. I knew I should be, but I just wasn't. But in a way, that's what is exciting about figure skating isn't it? You never really know what you would like or not.

For American women, I always thought that Kwan was overrated (technically weak), but I knew I was in the minority as everyone loved her. I did love Sasha Cohen though, there was something about her that I just loved.

I must say I do miss the Russians. Not the men so much, but the women always had some tricks up their sleeves. My fave skater of all time is probably Shcherbakova.
