2025 Grand Prix de France Rhythm Dance

His skating was always better than hers.
Again, programs are one thing... but the skating is something else. I mean, just think about single skating. You can have terrible programs but if the skaters land all the jumps, they will win. In ice dance, you need to nail your turns and steps, which is the specialty of the Italians.

I agree that the shocking fact is that it's not just the Georgians edging them but everyone else and especially Fear Gibson by a huge margin.

The scoresheets reveal two things. Yes, they lost points on TES but they also lost points on PCS. So, it's not just technical like messing up the pattern steps or the twizzles. The judges also didn't like them.
It sounds like Italians were dinged down for the program specifically, while Georgians passed the 90s upbeat flavor test. So program mattered in the placement.

I thought it was better than other teams' music, but what do I know? Maybe the judges need choke-and-construction zone sounds.
It was better. But this year all the music needs to be 100% upbeat all throughout the program. It's the reason all the programs are the same this year. Unfortunately GF to the judges didn't follow it for the PSt section (not upbeat enough). 3 of the judges gave music violation calls. Many of the judges gave super low PST GOE. It's not about how good the music is or how enjoyable the program is, very simply it needs to be upbeat.

The only good thing about this ice dance event is that FG lead should be enough to beat FBC. And FBC probably expected a gold medal at home soil, so that is something. I´m not sure how the podium is going to turn out now. I expected GF to be higher, but I´m afraid FBC will be ahead of them, and i´m afraid R/A might drop behind them as well. But let´s see.
Yeah I think is a total possibility - FG 1st FBC 2nd and GF 3rd. Tomorrow will be in interesting!

Just reviewed the PDFs.
3 judges called music violation.
PSt on this music got very low GOE (not just the turns).

Very simply the judges didn't think the music fit the theme, and for this they were ranked.
Yep, again, huge misstep on Barbara for green lighting this idea.

Those dour Italians, smthng. I found lots of music here acoustically annoying rather than upbeat, but that's just me.

if you take in consideration, that G. Cizeron`s fall costed them at least 8 points ( they got 0,86 points for the ChRs1 compared to 8,21 of F/G and a deduction for the fall, and the impact of the fall on the PCS), they seem to be in a very good position to medal at the Olympics.

I don't think the results are strange, to be honest. For a new team, FB/C, the technical requirements of the RD will always make it the more difficult program. Like all new teams, there is going to be a learning curve. They had something even more interesting for the RD and the very judges, nixed that. I'm open to what they're selling and hope they do much better in the FD. Great place to start.
I diagree with you, they have no chemistry and the program was just a lot of chorepgraphy and showing of skating skills, it was not really performing, it wasn´t really innovative either since he did something similar with Gabi. They have good basics skating skills, you can´t deny that, but that is it for me. The concept of the idea of them skating together is good, but it stops there too. Also Guillame weakness is becoming more obvious now. Laurence is outskating him. I´m not sure he is going to like it in the long run.

Of course in italy they won't be scored as high. But yes, the judges like their programs and they are skating much better now than at french masters.

I'm curious why this never came up in federation feedback though?

I also hold back criticism, in that barbara was seemingly following the format of the last three years (slower pst section sandwiched in two faster sections). And the rules kind of not being explicit in that every part of the music needs to be upbeat rather than overall program.

The good news is the first and last part of the program is usable, it's less than 1 minute that needs changing

At the same time, this isn't the season you can really afford to take risks. At some point, look at what everybody else is doing and question why they are doing what they are doing, and why they aren't doing other things.

yes, I think so, too. but the scores aside, if they skated clean here, the would have been ranked first. above F/G and G/F. I only see the Canadians and the Americans in a position to beat them. but this is just a wild guess from me. we have to wait and see...

Thank you for your comments - they are very clarifying!

I would imagine Italy has their version of a high performance camp in the summer to get judging feedback. I recall reading in an article that Charlene and Marco didn’t even start creating their programs until mid-June though, so I highly doubt their programs were even completed in time to receive that valuable feedback.

Ooops! LOL I told you I should've had more sleep! :laugh4:

Pancakes are pretty simple to make, and they're filling, so I most likely will skip lunch and just have dinner later.
Especially since you said you were having sausage with them. That would be filling indeed.

Italian skating usually does video feedback as programs are being created and also well in advance of major events, rather than just doing high performance camps.
