I don't want to derail this thread but why FB/C are clearly disliked here? Has Guillaume made some cocky statements in off-season or sth? Or do people not like returning olympic champions coming from a retirement? You can send me a link or something.

I agree they were a bit overscored today btw.

It didn´t do them any favor to public go out and defend Nikolaj and supporting him (interview). If they had some common sense they just kept their mouth shut and not address the issue. They also seem pretty arogant. There is no doubt that they are good, but before they even had competed any competition this season (even before French Masters) they wrote on their IG their competition schedule for the season and wrote were going to Euros (not even formally having the minimum or being selected), and hopefully making the GP final And all though most people could agree it was likely they were going to make the team for Euros, it´s just not very good behavior, particular towards your team mates to just assume you are entitled to a spot with no results to show to just because you are a former Olympic gold medalist. And yeah - the GP final statement was a bit cocky to state to at that point.

My take is that Gabby was the soul of P/C team. He was always (and still is) very strong skater with extremely beautiful lines but she was the magic, she brought more character and charismo imo. Also, some charms are fading with time and that is ithe case with Gui for me. I used to like Gui for his soft side and musical sensibility that at the time made him stand out from the other male ice dancers but lately I don't get that feeling anymore cuase he gives me more of "a narcissist celebrating his beauty" vibe. Nothing wrong with celebrating sb's beauty but it's been a bit too much of it for me. The other thing is that the choreo that he's done for other skaters so far didn't impress me much as well.

No more than C/B and G/P will be overscored at their own home GPs. So, F/Gib knew this before coming in based on their reception at the Masters already. Further, F/Gib train with these two and knows what they're capable of. I don't think anyone at the IAM school is really surprised by this result. Just saying.

AFAK French Fed has a selection procress for Euros. It´s possible that Gui has been promised things from the Feds, but I still don´t think it´s the right announcing it like that regarding the other teams..

It's obvious that neither Cizeron, nor Fournier-Beaudry herself are (consciously) supporting a SA, rather, they are supporting a friend and a lover who they very likely think is innocent. I am not saying that it's right, but their belief in a long time friend and partner/lover who to them has always been a good person is humanly understandable.

I always thought Laurence was one of the best ice dancers in the world. I found her previous partnership difficult to watch because she was so much better than her partner in every way. In this case, Cizeron is obviously an equally strong skater. However, I think the fact that she has to adapt to his style because he really wouldn't be capable of adapting to hers shows who is a stronger dancer if not skater. I don't think they have any magic or connection yet but they do have strong skating skills. However, so do the Italians. So, I don't see the how the judges justify the huge difference in scores between those two teams. I don't really have any issue with the other scores here. Just very clear overscoring of the French and underscoring of the Italians. I would watch out for Barbara if I was one of those judges on the panel showing such a strong bias. This kind of judging also makes ice dance seem like more of a joke than an actual sport.

Very close. This could flip-flop over the rest of the season. Too close too call right now.

It could but let's see, without the mistake in the RD, FB-C would have a bigger lead here, not winning RD for sure, but a bigger overall lead.

On another note, I guess that gold medal will at least help Laurence get French citizenship faster (because we still don't know what to expect for now, still not sure wether she will get it on time).

Give them a chance; this is just their first season. Hopefully, they don't win Gold, and it does force them to stay for a full quad.

I totally agree with this. I understand why others find it off putting but if you were to put yourself in their shoes, who’s to say we wouldn’t behave in the same way? Unless there was undeniable proof and you believe your friend or fiancée is a good person, then you may choose to stand by them too. It’s really hard to say what you would do without being in that position for real. Again, I understand why others don’t want to like them but Im trying not to let that cloud my judgement cause they aren’t the ones that were accused of committing SA.

I don’t see them saying Euros and GPF as being rude. It’s a sport, of course they are going to plan to be at the big comps.

It’s very frustrating when people are asked to be humble for the sake of others.

I’m sure if you ask any skater how they are planning this season they will all say with the Olympics in mind even if that’s a pipe dream.

What a beautiful set of Free Dance programs! Each performance had its own flavor and standout moments, but for me, the whale program is in a category of its own, stunning lightness with effortless technical precision. Laurence is an exceptional skater: hardworking, graceful, elegant. Laurence and Guillaume delivered a performance full of intensity, and I want to be clear that I’m limiting my judgment to what happens in sport, on the ice. For clarity: in June 2025 an SDRCC arbitrator overturned the six-year suspension, and Skate Canada lifted its sanctions accordingly. That decision addressed jurisdiction and procedure; it did not adjudicate the substance of the allegations. The legal process remains the proper venue, and I’ll let it run its course. That said, it would have been more responsible if Laurence and Guillaume had also acknowledged the seriousness of the allegations and expressed support for the presumed victim while standing by Nikolaj and trusting the legal process. Supporting a partner and recognizing the gravity of the situation are not mutually exclusive.

As for Lilah and Lewis, their Free Dance was enjoyable; some finishing details felt a touch under-polished, so the final scores didn’t surprise.

It may be out of topic here, but since it's being discussed, I'll share my opinion on this. Guillaume does indeed seem very arrogant and entitled, but Laurence actually seems more "normal" (or at least , that was the case before he partnered with Guillaume, hopefully she won't copy his bad personality traits). In fact, Gabby comes across as much more arrogant and entitled than her, at Guillaume's level.

I understand why Gabby / Guillaume had so many fans, they were very good dancers. I saw them live once and they unexpectedly really touch me, the fluidity of their movements was incredibly. But from what they transmitted as persons, from what they showed from their personalities, they were both very hard to support. I guess it was a case of truly separating the artists from the persons.
