2025 Skate Canada Men's Free Skate

Not perfect but also not a distaster by Gogo. This music is too big for his abilities imo.
The program itself is actually great - there's a ton of transitional content, but you're right, he just doesn't have the speed or Edge quality to really pull it off. I have a sneaking suspicion, though, that he will have things dialed in and end up being Canada's representative in italy. Not sure why, I just get this feeling... I think he was actually better in his earlier competitions. Just looked really scratchy throughout. I also think that the costume does not work and emphasizes his scratchiness. I'm not sure why I think green looks terrible on him, and he needs something a little more either flowy, or entirely traditional like a black tux or something. I'm not sure exactly, but I just think the current look is not serving him well, and he needs all the help he can get.

Ah yes, mine doesn't go for kibbles. But she does really enjoy the cat fountain and electrical cords, which is terrifying. We've babyproofed as much as we can but of course things still have to be plugged in, and she's lightning fast. We spend lots of time chasing her!
trying to keep a baby to hurt himself is like dealing with a drunken friend after a night out :ROFLMAO:

He is done a lot of events and is getting a bit tired. Roman seems to be pacing himself and skating maybe a bit easier program and has a bit more left in his tank. Time to rest and reset for the next part of the season.
gogo had to do these events. He was out of commission for so long that he has no "body of work" . Winning Nebelhorn, for instance, was a huge deal. Not only the medal but also getting top of the replacement list and now he has Finlandia.

I believe I said "he's still in the conversation" not "he has it locked down". And last week's score still puts Tomoki well ahead of Naumov, Torgashev, Ma and Sanchez. Obviously it's not over until it's over, just saying that I don't think one bad free skate puts Tomoki out of the running just yet.
I agree - no has got it and no one has ruled himself out yet either.
Scary and fascinating to watch and also nerve-wracking.

I hope he gets a bit of rest before then or takes time to pace himself.

Just turning on the stream, on time to catch the last group. I'm surprised the stands look quite empty, even for Mens FS with Illia there, and dance coming up later. I'd have thought there would be a pick of attendance for this.

It is a really nice treat to have a really elegant classical skater in the field. I am just loving his skating even though he is a bit out of gas. He is going to be fun to watch in this and the next quad. Robing Cousins like with quads...oh my

Nik wants to go to home olympics too and his prospects look better than Matteo's so far

MMM interesting... the TP will have to work a bit on this...

Nik did a Euler combo...

then, on the 4lutz... which he didn't need to Combo because he had tripled the first one, he was going to do a Euler combo again and stopped midway...
and then, he also did a 3lz-3toe and an axel sequence...

is that four combos ???

Stephen has loads of technical ability and his performances are improving, but someone needs to help him with his arms/hand positions - his skating would look so much better (IMO) if his arms were properly extended and his hands were stretched.
Yes. I hate the gloves in this program. Everything about his program looks like it's about two sizes too big. I get that he's skinny, and as someone who has been bony all his life, I understand that there's only so much you can do with knobbly knees and an angular frame. But whereas memola, for example, is able to make it look more graceful and a little more aesthetic and give the impression of nice lines, Gogo just isn't pulling it off... more ballet, perhaps?

I think In particular I hate the cut of his top, Weird wing-like way the bottom of his sleeve attaches to the jacket - I don't know anything about clothing and whatnot. But it just looks bad. In contrast, I'm watching Memola right now, and the cut of his shirt looks perfectly designed to enhance his appearance and body type and body line, etc. I guess you would expect nothing less from an Italian LOL
