2025 Skate Canada Women's Short Program

Día de Muertos is Monday this year because All-Saints is a Saturday? Sorry for the off-topic.
It’s always on November 2nd, but in Mexico you can usually see people celebrating from the last week of October to the first week of November. Do people in the United States celebrate Día de Muertos? There are kids celebrating Halloween here in Monterrey, Mexico right now.

A strong skate from Mone; she seemed to be having a lot of fun in this program and is really letting loose with the choreography. There are a lot of "wow" moments, I love the twizzles in the steps and the held outside edge on her axel. The jumps weren't quite at her best, they were a bit tight but still strong. Her stroking seemed a bit off, I wonder if she's struggling to adjust to the rink size and is having to change up her patterns.
I have never flown long distance but I have to wonder if skaters can adjust quickly to the jet lag? Those from Asia were not spot on their game, even though I still love to watch them.

Very few people in my part of WA state celebrate it. Maybe in So. Cal.?

Yes, they were much harsher on some skaters than others. I understand if things look rotated in realtime but Mone's axel and lutz looked slightly under in realtime and were not called. Other skaters did not get that benefit of doubt.
I agree. But Ami got away with a UR on her axle as well. Looks like the favorites coming in got lenient scoring. What a shock. Lol

I looked at the protocols.

I will say only one sentence :

I am very upset with Sara-Maude's PCS : she is much better than what the judges credit her for.
Agreed. Felt like they'd already decided what to give her before she skated, or had a cap in their minds of how high anyone could be scored on PCS in the first group.

I also strongly feel that Yuna Aoki should have higher PCS than Ami. Ironically I think Ami's PCS in isolation are correct--it's just that if she is getting 8.11 in performance, Sara-Maude Dupuis should be getting 8s in performance as well and Yuna Aoki should be at least in the 8s if not 9s.

I always thought Europe was worse for Asian skaters than North America because of the jet lag, but who knows.
Its odd. After a 12 hour flight, Chicago to Tokyo, the times on your watch arent that different when you arrive from local Tokyo time....you are just in another day. But Europe of course there is a major change in your watch. A good PHD thesis for someone.....

I agree to a point but sadly the Canadian women right now while trying just don't have it. The person who mentioned Babby Daleman. Honestly she woldn't be a horrible pick. Come on Gabby Canada needs you. Mone and Isabeau are the rightful leaders. I expect Bradie to be real tough in the freeskate. Sarah E if she does not do well here probably was a pretender to the US team which means it is Isabeau veruss Bradie for the last spot most likely. Oh the drama!

Mone should have been called on the 2A and the 3Lz
Definitely not on the Lutz.

All the PCSs have been low this season so far. I guess the judges are leaving room for the skaters to grow,
Levito is scoring high 8's on PCS (and up to 9.5 from some judges individually). That pretty much amounts to leaving enough room for a potted plant. :dbana:

I disagree... There are huge consistency issues with Maddie. Huge. However, she has all the goods she needs to compete. She was 11th in the world last year... now she is 12th in a GP.
Sara-Maude is the first Canadian woman to land a triple axel in competition. (okay, there was a step out but she rotated it and stayed on her feet)
I remember the days when there were absolutely no no Canadian women with a full set of triples (but the axel) nor 3-3 combos. The top women in Canada pretty much all have that. The issue is that they are just finally starting to get events... Sara-Maude doesn't even have a second GP. You cannot build consistency nor PCS without being in the face of judges all the time.

Yes, there are plenty of people in the United States that celebrate it (although it's mainly the Latino community that celebrates it). I'm in Southern California and there are some public events with food and crafts for sale as well as smaller events at local community centers.
